The new series shifts the focus to Ted Black, a former New York federal prosecutor now representing powerful clients in Los Angeles.
What does Harvey Specter do when he arrives in Los Angeles?
The preview shows Harvey returning to the Suits universe, and a February 17, 2025 report describes his reason for coming west: to help an old friend. That report does not name the friend, so the available account leaves their identity unresolved.
A February 13, 2025 trailer report said Macht was expected to appear in three episodes. That was a pre-release estimate, not confirmation of his final episode count.
Who is at the center of Suits: L.A.?
Harvey’s return is a connection to the original series, but the spin-off’s protagonist is Ted Black, played by Stephen Amell. SkyShowtime describes Black as a former federal prosecutor from New York who represents powerful clients in Los Angeles. Aaron Korsh, creator and executive producer of the original Suits, is credited as creator and executive producer of the new series.

The synopsis also points to conflicting loyalties and events from Ted’s past that are revealed over time.

“His firm is at a crisis point, and in order to survive he must embrace a role he held in contempt his entire career.”
This is the official pilot-description wording quoted in the February 13 report; no individual speaker is identified. Together with the old-friend hook, it establishes two story strands in the preview: Harvey’s arrival to help someone from his past and Ted’s struggle to save his Los Angeles firm.
