Landman is continuing. It has been renewed for a third season, production on that season is underway, and it remains a Paramount+ series. Taylor Sheridan’s contract with Paramount runs through the end of 2028, so his move is not an immediate cancellation or platform change. What remains unannounced is who will run the series creatively once that contract ends.
The timeline so far
Most of the confusion comes from the gap between when Sheridan’s departure was reported and when his Paramount contract actually ends. The table below separates the two.

What the official listings show
Paramount’s production announcement names Paramount Television Studios, 101 Studios, and Bosque Ranch Productions as producers. The official title listing identifies Landman as a Paramount+ drama, counts seasons one and two at 20 episodes in total, and lists Sheridan and Christian Wallace among the executive producers. Credits are current as of the listing and can change from season to season.
What Paramount has said about the contract
The only official statement on the timing comes from Paramount Skydance Corporation’s Q3 2025 shareholder letter: “While our contract with Sheridan will conclude at the end of 2028, we look forward to continuing our strong partnership over the next several years.” The letter is a corporate statement about the overall relationship. It does not, by itself, say what happens to any single series after 2028, and it is not attributed to an individual speaker.

The reported NBCUniversal move and rights
The Los Angeles Times reported that Sheridan’s overall deal would move to NBCUniversal in 2029, and that Paramount would keep its existing Sheridan-show library along with subsequent seasons and spin-offs. That rights detail comes from an unnamed person familiar with the matter. No published contract clause has confirmed it, so it should be read as reporting rather than established terms.
What is not yet known
- Sheridan’s role after 2028. Nothing official says whether he will write, executive produce, or hold any other creative position on Landman once his Paramount contract ends.
- Post-2028 leadership. No replacement showrunner or writer has been announced for any season after the current one.
- Season three writing staff. Paramount’s announcements to date do not name who is writing season three. A Reddit user asked “Who’s writing S3?” in January 2026, and the official record still does not answer it.
- A premiere date. Production starting does not establish a release window, and no season three premiere date has been announced.
Signals that would change the picture
- A Paramount announcement of a fourth season, which would extend the show beyond the current contract window.
- A named writer or showrunner for post-2028 seasons, which would answer the creative question directly.
- A change to the official Paramount+ listing, which would indicate a platform change. Nothing currently points to one.
- An official Paramount or NBCUniversal statement on the rights arrangement, which would confirm or correct the reported ownership detail.
