Woody Allen and Soon-Yi Previn reportedly attended a private contributors’ gathering for Feeld’s literary magazine, A Fucking Magazine (AFM), in October 2024. That was not the magazine’s public launch party the following night: the public event took place at Public Records in Brooklyn, where The Cut said Allen and Previn were absent.
There were two events, and Allen attended the private one
Feeld’s AFM launched in October 2024 with a contributors’ gathering hosted by writer Daphne Merkin at her Manhattan home, followed the next evening by a public launch party at Public Records in Gowanus, Brooklyn. The distinction matters because the reports describe Allen and Previn at the first gathering, not the public party.
Futurism’s Noor Al-Sibai reported on October 22 that Allen and Previn arrived at Merkin’s home. The Cut’s Bindu Bansinath also reported that they attended. In its October 17 scene report on the Public Records event, The Cut explicitly noted they were not there. Futurism’s account and The Cut’s report cover the separate gatherings.
What was reported about the reaction
The accounts describe some discomfort, but they do not establish that every guest was alarmed. The Cut relayed a secondhand observation: “I’m told Allen was studiously avoided.” Futurism, quoting New York Times writer Alex Vadukul’s description of the gathering, said “Feeld team members looked on a bit anxiously” as Merkin spoke with Allen and Previn in a corner. Those are attributed descriptions of reactions, not a measured account of the room as a whole.

Futurism also quoted Allen discussing the literary gatherings he used to attend: “I’d go to those parties, always held by writers like Norman Mailer or George Plimpton,” and “You’d stand around talking with Susan Sontag or Dwight Macdonald. It was like how this is tonight.” These quotations come through Futurism’s account of the New York Times report.
Why the appearance drew attention
The gathering brought together literary contributors and people connected to Feeld, a dating app. Futurism placed Allen’s presence against the public controversy surrounding allegations of sexual abuse made by Dylan Farrow, which resurfaced during the #MeToo period. Those allegations are context for the reaction described in the reports, not a legal finding established by this account.

What AFM is—and where the public party fits
A Fucking Magazine is Feeld’s print and online magazine. The Cut’s account of the Public Records launch describes print copies being distributed there. Feeld’s official magazine page currently presents issue 3 as available on newsstands and online, with a purchase link; availability may change. Feeld’s AFM page has the current listing.
The public launch at Public Records was a separate scene from the private gathering: Bansinath’s report covers the Brooklyn event and notes Allen and Previn’s absence. The reports’ central point is therefore narrower than the headline might suggest: their appearance was reported at the contributors’ gathering at Merkin’s home, where some attendees were described as uneasy or avoidant.
