At the final Brooklyn stop of Mariah Carey’s 2024 Christmas Time tour, Rihanna asked the singer to autograph her chest during a crowd sing-along. The moment took place on December 17 at Barclays Center, as Carey performed “Always Be My Baby.”
What happened at the Brooklyn show?
Rihanna was in the audience for the tour finale. During “Always Be My Baby,” she asked Carey for an autograph and called for a Sharpie. iHeart reported that a red marker was handed to Carey; that detail does not indicate a brand partnership. iHeart and Glamour described the exchange, while the Associated Press report on the finale placed it in the context of the show.

Carey signed Rihanna’s chest as the audience sang along. Rihanna then announced that Carey was signing her, as quoted by iHeart. The unusual autograph was a brief fan interaction within the concert, rather than a separate performance or announcement.
Why was it described as Carey’s return to the stage?
Carey had canceled three December performances after coming down with the flu. Us Weekly reported on December 18 that Carey had confirmed the previous day that she would perform in Brooklyn. In this context, “return” means she resumed the tour after those illness-related cancellations—not that she was returning from a long career hiatus. Us Weekly

What did Carey say about the autograph?
In a later interview with Associated Press music reporter Maria Sherman, Carey recalled: “She wanted me to sign her breasts. I was trying to do it neatly, and it didn’t come out right. So, I tried.” The AP account provides Carey’s own retrospective description of the moment.
