The TactiBite Fish Call’s founders accepted Robert Herjavec’s offer on Shark Tank, but available reporting does not confirm that the investment deal closed. The product was marketed as an underwater sound-and-vibration fish attractor. TactiBite’s current purchase guidance warns that Amazon sellers are unauthorized, and later reports disagree about whether an Amazon listing remained. The company’s present operating status is unclear.
When did TactiBite appear on Shark Tank?
TactiBite’s FAQ identifies the episode as Season 8, Episode 2, and gives the air date as September 30, 2016, at 8 p.m. Central. Prime Video’s Season 8 listing also names Jeff and Jack and describes their Tactibite Fish Call pitch in episode 2. The founders, Jack and Jeff Danos, are presented on the company’s About page as a father-and-son team.
Did the Shark Tank deal close?
SlashGear reported in January 2025 that the Danoses asked for $150,000 in exchange for 10% of the company and accepted Robert Herjavec’s offer on air. The same account said the investment apparently never closed, while noting that no official statement substantiated that outcome. The dependable distinction is: they accepted the offer on the show; whether the deal ultimately closed is unconfirmed.
What was the Fish Call supposed to do?
TactiBite described the device as playing recorded and simulated sounds and vibrations associated with feeding fish, with the aim of attracting nearby fish. That is the manufacturer’s description, not independent evidence that the device improves catch rates. Its FAQ explicitly cautioned: “Unlike other devices that many consider to be gimmicks, we certainly can’t guarantee that you will catch fish while using it.”
#1 Best Overall
- Easy Catch Design – Three Actions in One Lure The Swimmax delivers wiggling, vibrating, gurgling and rattling noise at the same time. Steady retrieve triggers a lifelike swimming action with internal rattles that call fish from a distance – more actions, less effort. Ideal for family fishing.
- Heavy-Duty Dyneema Fiber Joint – Built to Last Unlike soft plastic joints that tear easily, the Swimmax features a strong Dyneema fiber connection between segments. This allows free movement while withstanding repeated strikes from toothy fish – no more broken jointed swimbaits.
- Wiggling & Vibrating Swim – Natural Baitfish Imitation The segmented body creates a seductive side‑to‑side wiggle combined with a tight vibrating swim. Mimics a wounded or fleeing baitfish with incredible realism – irresistible to bass, trout, and crappie.
- Rattling and Gurgling Noise – Attracts Fish from Afar Internal rattles produce rattling sound while segments disturb water and create gurgling noise that mimics feeding activity. This acoustic trigger draws curious predators even in murky water or low light – you'll get more strikes before the fish even see the lure.
- BKK Hook & Family-Friendly Design – Ready for Everyone Equipped with sharp, corrosion‑resistant BKK hooks, the Swimmax is easy to use and perfect for family fishing trips. Kids and adults alike can enjoy catching bass, trout, and crappie without complicated setups.
Manufacturer-listed specifications and use
- Power: Three regular AAA batteries, not included. TactiBite estimated 20+ hours of operation on fresh batteries and advised removing them between uses to reduce corrosion.
- Size and weight: The manufacturer listed a diameter of 3.5 inches, a height of 8 inches, and a total weight of 1.6 pounds, including the nine-ounce anchor.
- Sound and placement: TactiBite recommended starting at low volume unless conditions were rough or boat traffic heavy, warning that excessive volume could scare fish away. Its FAQ called “Scared Shrimp” its go-to saltwater sound and “Rattle Battle” its freshwater choice, while saying all three sounds had worked in both settings.
- Anchor: The company described using the anchor line to position and retrieve the unit; it said the anchor could be removed for trolling.
These are product details and fishing suggestions supplied by TactiBite, not independently tested performance findings.
Can you still buy an authentic TactiBite Fish Call?
TactiBite’s FAQ says Amazon sellers are unauthorized and warns that the company cannot verify the authenticity of products bought there or honor its warranty and money-back guarantee for those purchases. That warning matters because later coverage conflicts: SlashGear said Amazon sales had ended, while BGR reported in April 2026 that an Amazon listing could still be found at a steep markup. A listing’s presence does not establish that it is authorized or authentic.

BGR and SlashGear reported a figure of $2 million in sales or revenue associated with 2016. Their descriptions differ: BGR said the company was on track to make that amount, while SlashGear said it reported revenue by Christmas. Neither account, in the material reviewed, is backed by a primary financial disclosure, so the figure should be treated as secondary reporting rather than audited revenue.
