He described her as bedridden and incapacitated but said she could speak, understand, and recognize loved ones, and was not in pain at that time. Buzzi died on May 1, 2025, at age 88; the 2022 update is not a current status report.
What did Kent Perkins say about Ruth Buzzi’s strokes?
The Fort Worth Star-Telegram reported in July 2022 that Perkins had shared the update on Buzzi’s official Facebook page. He said she had suffered a series of strokes and described their effects. The report attributed the account to Perkins; it did not include medical records or an independent clinical assessment.
In a statement quoted by the newspaper, Perkins wrote: “She wants you to know she is not in pain and is aware you are sending your best wishes her way as she battles the results of devastating strokes that have left her bedridden and incapacitated.” Those words reflect his family update at the time, not a clinician’s findings. What is known—and not known—about the strokes?
The 2022 report described a “series” of strokes but did not give an exact count, dates for individual strokes, or a medical cause. The coverage cited here does not provide a treating clinician’s account, specific treatment details, or clinical findings. Those details should not be inferred from Perkins’s description.
