#1 Best Overall
In an interview published October 18, 2011, Bergès-Frisbey said she researched mermaids in literature and film while preparing to play Syrena. Asked whether the character might return, she said she would like to play her again, but that nothing had been mentioned. That was her view at the time, not evidence of a current franchise plan or a later appearance. The 2011 interview preserves her comments.
What is known about her background
Her CV lists French, Spanish and Catalan as native languages, English as bilingual, and Italian as mastered. In the 2011 interview, she also spoke about English not being her first language and about enjoying scenes where she could speak French or Spanish with castmates.

The film’s production-era press kit says she studied drama at Cours Simon and with Steve Kalfa at Ateliers de l’Ouest in Paris, and recounts early film and television work. This is historical material from the film’s release period, rather than a current biography.

The career sources document acting credits, but they do not establish why Bergès-Frisbey may seem less visible to some audiences, describe her private life, or confirm that she returned as Syrena. The clearest answer is that she continued working on screen after Pirates, with her official CV listing film and television credits through 2024.
