Police described a collision involving a man on an e-bike or scooter and a car stopped at a red light, but did not publicly identify the rider. The police account said he was stable when transported; other injury details came from witness-attributed reporting.
What happened in the Los Angeles crash?
The collision was reported at about 5 p.m. on Monday, July 29, 2024, on Los Feliz Boulevard in Los Angeles. LAPD Officer David Cuellar told CNN that a man riding an e-bike or scooter collided with a vehicle stopped at a red light. Accounts differed on the direction of the collision, so it is not established whether the rider struck the car or the car struck the rider.
In CNN’s July 30 account, Cuellar said: “The victim was in stable condition when he was transported to a local hospital.” He did not identify the victim or discuss specific injuries, citing privacy laws. Media reports identified the rider as Pax Jolie-Pitt, the son of Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt.
CNN’s report, republished by KRDO, carries the police account. Us Weekly’s July 30 report identified Pax through its reporting sources.

Was Pax wearing a helmet?
Us Weekly attributed reports that he was not wearing a helmet to witnesses. Police did not publicly confirm helmet use. That reported detail should not be treated as an independently verified fact, and the available accounts do not establish what effect helmet use would have had on this particular crash or its injuries.
What did police say about the crash investigation?
Cuellar’s account, as reported by CNN, said police issued no citations and filed a traffic incident report. Police found no evidence of DUI or a crime in their initial account. The officer’s public description did not establish a specific bicycle make or model.

Contemporaneous coverage varied in how it described the bicycle and who struck whom. El País described a BMX-style bicycle and gave a different account of the collision direction, while the police account relayed by CNN used the broader description “e-bike/scooter.” The most supportable summary is therefore that police reported a man on an e-bike or scooter collided with a car stopped at a red light, and media reports identified the rider as Pax Jolie-Pitt.
