Celebrity hairstylist Jesus Guerrero, a close friend of Kylie Jenner, died at 34. His family announced his death on February 23, 2025, describing it as sudden and unexpected. Jenner paid tribute two days later. The cause of death was reported months afterward, in June.
What happened to Jesus Guerrero?
Guerrero worked with Jenner and other prominent clients. His younger sister, Gris Guerrero, announced the death through a family fundraiser on February 23, 2025. She wrote, “Unfortunately, his passing came very suddenly and unexpectedly.” The family said it was arranging to bring him home to Houston. The announcement did not give a cause of death.
The family’s GoFundMe fundraiser was created to help with funeral and transport-related needs. When the page was accessed on October 8, 2026, it displayed $96,000 raised toward an $80,000 goal and showed donations as paused; the total may change.
What did Kylie Jenner say about him?
On February 25, 2025, Jenner shared a tribute on Instagram reflecting on their friendship, which she said had lasted nearly a decade. She wrote: “Jesus was more than my friend—he was a light in my life, a source of laughter, comfort, love, and unwavering support.” She also described the shock and pain of losing him and remembered his humor and support.

Who else paid tribute to Guerrero?
Other public tributes came from Jennifer Lopez, Kim Kardashian, Khloé Kardashian, Jessica Alba, Jenner’s makeup artist Ariel Tejada, and hairstylist Jen Atkin, among others. Lopez wrote that she had struggled to find the words and was still in shock that “such a beautiful young life has come to an end.” Glamour reproduced Lopez’s statement in its February 25, 2025 report.
What was Jesus Guerrero’s cause of death?
The family’s February announcement did not disclose a cause. On June 2, 2025, The Independent reported that findings from the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner identified severe pneumonia as the cause of death and also described cryptococcosis and a weakened immune system in the case. The county’s case-detail page is the official record, but its accessible page text does not expose those findings; the details here are therefore attributed to The Independent’s account of the examiner’s report.

For general context, the CDC says cryptococcal infection follows inhalation of fungal spores found in the environment and does not spread from person to person. That general guidance does not establish Guerrero’s specific exposure or personal medical circumstances.
