Kathryn Dennis left Southern Charm in 2023, saying she was beginning a new chapter away from the show. Since then, public updates have been limited: Bravo described a few social-media posts in 2025, while later news reports covered a DUI conviction and jail sentence. Those reports do not establish her current custody arrangements, sobriety, health, or the status of later court proceedings.
Why Kathryn Dennis left Southern Charm
Bravo reported on January 12, 2023, that Dennis would not return to Southern Charm, where she had appeared since the first season. In her departure statement, she thanked Bravo, production company Haymaker, her Charleston castmates, and fans. She described the decision as a step away from the show: “I’ll be carrying that love with me as I enter this next chapter of my life, away from the Southern Charm lens.” Bravo’s report of her departure presents this as her own explanation, not a detailed account of what she would do next.

What was publicly known after her departure?
A limited glimpse of her life in 2025
In a June 12, 2025 article, Bravo described Dennis as “a little more private these days” and highlighted selected Instagram Stories and Mother’s Day posts. The article identified her children as daughter Kensington “Kensie” Ravenel and son Saint Ravenel. It reproduced a caption on a red-dress image: “She walked back in red,” followed by “The court didn’t crown her — the storm did. KCD, 8:29 PM”. That is social-media wording, not evidence of a court ruling or a comprehensive update on her life. Bravo’s June 2025 account describes only the posts it selected.
What an August podcast listing does—and doesn’t—show
An August 18, 2025 episode listing for Behind the Velvet Rope says Dennis discussed her children, sobriety, custody, and a hit-and-run rumor. The listing does not include a transcript, so it cannot verify what she said in detail, whether a rumor was true, or the outcome of any custody or legal matter. The Apple Podcasts listing is evidence of the episode’s description, not a substitute for the audio or court records.

What happened in Dennis’s DUI case?
TV Insider reported that Dennis was convicted of DUI on October 3, 2025, in Goose Creek, South Carolina, and sentenced to 30 days in jail, citing local broadcaster WCBD. Us Weekly later reported that she served 11 days and was released on October 14. It also reported that she filed a motion to reconsider on October 6. The arguments described in that report were claims made in Dennis’s court filing; they should not be treated as findings by the court.
TV Insider’s report on the conviction and sentence and Us Weekly’s report on the motion and release document those reported milestones. They do not, by themselves, establish the later outcome of the motion or any related proceedings.

What is not established about her current life?
The available reports do not establish Dennis’s current custody arrangement, current sobriety or health, or the later status of the motion and related court matters as of October 8, 2026. A 2025 podcast description is not proof of custody terms, and old coverage or a prior interview should not be used to characterize her present health or sobriety.
For historical context only, Dennis told Bravo in a June 2017 interview after treatment in California that returning to Charleston felt new and that familiar routines had changed. The interview is not evidence of her current condition. Read the 2017 interview.
