Jo Coddington did not disappear from the hot-rod world after American Hot Rod. Following Boyd Coddington’s death and the closure of his shop, she worked to preserve his legacy while pursuing her own automotive projects, designs, speaking engagements, and industry opportunities. Her official biography and website describe those activities, though they do not provide a complete timeline or a confirmed schedule of current appearances.
Jo Coddington’s role went beyond the television show
Jo was part of the business behind the cars as well as a familiar presence on American Hot Rod. Her official biography describes her work as general manager around Boyd Coddington’s operation. She dealt with the garage crew and collectibles store and handled merchandising, licensing, contracts, and proposals for car builds. That experience helps explain why her work after the show remained tied to both the Coddington name and the automotive business.
Boyd’s career and Jo’s are distinct: his official site credits him with six America’s Most Beautiful Roadster awards. That figure belongs to Boyd, not to Jo’s award record. (Boyd Coddington’s official site)
After Boyd’s death, she helped carry on his legacy
Jo’s official biography describes her as the “keeper of Boyd’s Legacy.” It says she represented him at speaking engagements and industry events, and selectively pursued opportunities to keep his brand alive. Her official biography outlines this work and her broader career (Jo Coddington’s biography).

A March 2024 SlashGear retrospective reports that the shop closed after Boyd died and quotes Jo describing how difficult it was to continue a shop without him. This is secondary reporting; it offers context for the shop’s closure, not a complete record of Jo’s subsequent work.
She also pursued her own automotive work
Jo’s biography says she worked on her own designs and builds, alongside endorsements and other automotive opportunities. A Street Muscle profile gives examples from an earlier period: Jo recalled finishing the French Connection project while Boyd was hospitalized and completing three builds after his death. The profile also described her as a motorsports spokesperson and product endorser. Those examples show the range of her work at the time, but do not establish a current build schedule or active endorsement deal.

Where to check for appearances and events
Jo’s official homepage features public appearances, interviews, and Wrench Wars, which it describes as a competition car show for owners of home-built vehicles. The homepage indicates the kinds of activity she is involved in; check it directly for current dates and availability rather than relying on older listings (Jo Coddington’s official website).
The homepage also carries an endorsement from Arlo Dillman of Wisconsin Hot Rod Radio, LLC: “Simply put – we trust Jo.” That is a testimonial on Jo’s site, not independent reporting.
