According to CBS News’ October 28, 2015 report, Bilodeau’s costume caught fire after he got too close to an open flame at Mowry’s Halloween party. The report said he was hospitalized with burns to his legs and arms and that his face and hands were unharmed.

Was the accident fatal, and did he recover?
No fatality was reported. The news coverage at the time said Bilodeau was expected to make a full recovery. That was a prognosis reported in October 2015, not a later medical update, so it should not be treated as confirmation of his subsequent health.
Who was responsible for the fire?
Bilodeau’s representative told ET, as quoted in the CBS report, “From what we understand, it was no one’s fault and this was merely a freak accident.” The wording reflects the representative’s understanding, not an official determination. The report does not identify the costume material or cite a fire investigation establishing a more specific cause beyond the reported proximity to an open flame.
