That establishes what he reportedly said at the time—not whether the video was released later. The word “pirated” in the original headline is not supported by the available reporting: there is no verified evidence here that a pirated copy existed.
What Jão reportedly said about the video
On 29 March 2023, POPline reported a post attributed to Jão: “Se ainda não ficou claro, o clipe de ‘Meninos e Meninas’ foi engavetado. Bjão” (“If it wasn’t clear yet, the ‘Meninos e Meninas’ video has been shelved. Big kiss.”). The outlet reproduced the wording; the underlying post was not independently captured in the reporting reviewed here. Read POPline’s report.
“Engavetado” means shelved or put away. It does not mean “pirated,” and the report does not establish that an unauthorized version circulated. The supported account is that the planned video had been shelved as of March 2023.
Why the song matters in Jão’s album story
“Meninos e Meninas” is a track on PIRATA, Jão’s third studio album, announced by Universal Music Brasil in October 2021. In the label’s announcement, Jão described the album as being about freedom and about “who I want to be and who I aspire to be.” Universal Music Brasil’s album announcement.

#1 Best Overall
In an interview published on 19 October 2021, Jão called “Meninos e Meninas” “uma faixa bibliográfica e uma memória da minha época de faculdade”—an autobiographical track and a memory of his university days. Read the UOL Splash interview. That description places the song in the personal, reflective context of the album; it does not explain why the video was shelved.

The available reporting does not confirm the video’s status after Jão’s reported March 2023 post. In particular, it is not enough to conclude either that the video was never released or that a later video or related collection appeared. Claims about a 2025 release should not be treated as confirmed without an official announcement or other reliable verification.
