He was largely absent from Jace’s life after infancy, reconnected with him in 2024, and in March 2026 was reported to be seeking custody while running a GoFundMe. The most recent report we could find is from TMZ, dated March 30, 2026. It does not establish the current custody arrangement or the outcome of the mediation Jenelle Evans said was planned. Everything below comes from secondary reporting, so each claim is attributed to the person or outlet making it.
Who Andrew Lewis is
Jenelle Evans appeared on 16 and Pregnant in 2010 with Andrew Lewis, and TV Insider reports that the couple broke up during that episode. Coverage consistently identifies Lewis as Jace’s father and Jenelle’s former partner.

Do not confuse him with David Eason, Jenelle’s later husband. Eason is a different man with a different relationship to Jace, and reporting about one does not describe the other.
The years of absence
According to The Ashley’s Reality Roundup, Lewis had not been part of Jace’s life since the boy was an infant. The only ongoing link described was child-support payments sent to Barbara Evans, who cared for Jace before Jenelle regained custody. The same outlet says Barbara had custody until March 2023. This is a secondary outlet’s account, not a review of court records.

The 2024 reconnection
The Ashley’s Reality Roundup reported that Lewis resurfaced during Jace’s child-protection-related custody proceedings in late 2023. He and Jace then spoke by phone and exchanged letters. The reporting timeline runs as follows:
| Date | What was reported | Source | Status of the claim |
|---|---|---|---|
| Late 2023 to January 2024 | Lewis resurfaced during Jace’s custody proceedings; phone calls and letters followed. | The Ashley’s Reality Roundup | Secondary outlet report; no court filing cited. |
| January 11, 2024 | Contact then waned, and Jace had lost interest, according to a source. | The Ashley’s Reality Roundup, citing an unnamed source | Attributed account of Jace’s feelings; not a direct statement from Jace. |
| January 2024 | Lewis and Jace met in person at a custody-related court hearing, their first face-to-face meeting since Jace was a baby. Further visits and phone contact were reported as permitted. | The Ashley’s Reality Roundup | Describes 2024 only; not evidence of current arrangements. |
| March 30, 2026 | Lewis launched a GoFundMe while seeking custody; Jenelle Evans responded (see below). | TMZ | Competing public accounts; not adjudicated. |
A single in-person meeting does not show a lasting relationship. The 2024 reporting describes a reconnection that was reported to be uneven, and no later source in the material reviewed describes ongoing, regular contact.

The 2026 GoFundMe and custody dispute
Andrew Lewis’s fundraiser
TMZ reported on March 30, 2026 that Lewis had started a GoFundMe while seeking custody of Jace. According to the report, the fundraiser described legal and medical expenses. TMZ’s account of the fundraiser’s contents comes from the report itself, not from a review of the campaign page.
Jenelle Evans’s response
TMZ quoted Jenelle disputing the fundraiser’s description of the situation. She said: “At this time, my son is FULLY covered by health insurance, and I AM currently handling and paying for all of his medical care.” She also said mediation was planned. This is her account, and the report does not verify it. The outcome of that mediation has not been reported in the sources we could find.

What is and is not established
Most of the story rests on the reporting of outlets and the statements of the people involved. The table below separates what is consistently reported from what remains a single party’s account.
| Claim | Who makes it | Independently confirmed? |
|---|---|---|
| Andrew Lewis is Jace’s father | TV Insider; The Ashley’s Reality Roundup | Consistently identified across sources; no birth or court record cited. |
| Lewis had no ongoing role in Jace’s life after infancy, apart from child support | The Ashley’s Reality Roundup | Not stated; no court records cited. |
| Lewis and Jace met in person at a custody-related hearing in January 2024 | The Ashley’s Reality Roundup | Not stated; hearing records not cited. |
| Lewis is seeking custody and launched a GoFundMe | TMZ, March 30, 2026 | Not stated; no court filing cited. |
| Jace is fully insured and Jenelle is handling his medical care | Jenelle Evans, quoted by TMZ | Not stated; her account only. |
| Mediation was planned | Jenelle Evans, as reported by TMZ | Not stated; no mediation outcome reported. |
| Current custody arrangement and where Jace lives | Not stated in the reporting reviewed | Not stated. |
What would settle the question
Reporting from the sources reviewed will not resolve the dispute. The following would give a firmer picture:
- A court filing or order in the custody matter, which would show what has been decided.
- A reported mediation outcome, from either party or a court.
- Updates from the GoFundMe campaign page, which would show how the fundraiser’s stated purpose has been described over time.
Until one of these appears, the most accurate summary is that Lewis is seeking custody and Jenelle disputes how the fundraiser describes the situation.
