Han’s orange-and-black Mazda RX-7 from The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift sold at Bonhams’ Goodwood auction in July 2025. The Drive reported a sale price of $1,225,568; the buyer and the car’s current location have not been identified in the coverage reviewed.
Was Han’s RX-7 built for the movie?
No. The 1992 Mazda RX-7 FD existed before filming as a VeilSide Fortune show car. Road & Track reports that it was displayed at Tokyo Auto Salon in 2004 and that picture-car coordinator Dennis McCarthy arranged its purchase for the production. The show car was red; it received its familiar orange-and-black finish for the film.
Motor Authority reports, drawing on technical advisor Craig Lieberman’s account, that the car was repainted House of Kolor Sunset Pearl orange and featured VeilSide modifications to its 13B rotary engine, HKS turbocharging, a titanium exhaust and audio equipment. Those are reported build details, not claims based on a recent inspection.
Was the auctioned car the one that drifted through Shibuya?
No. The Drive, relaying Bonhams’ description, says the auctioned RX-7 was used in static and stunt scenes, not for drifting. The famous Shibuya sequence should not be attributed to this particular car.

“Han’s RX-7” can also refer to the broader group of cars used to portray it. Reporting by Road & Track and Motor Authority says Universal commissioned nine additional VeilSide RX-7 stunt cars. The reports say two survived filming; the stunt cars did not all receive the full show-car modifications. Road & Track reports that both survivors later went through Newera Imports to private buyers. These production and survival details come from journalists’ accounts of Lieberman’s information, rather than published primary production records.
How much did Han’s RX-7 sell for?
The genuine screen-used 1992 RX-7 sold at Bonhams’ Goodwood auction in July 2025. Car and Driver reported that the winning bid exceeded $1.2 million, while The Drive reported the result as $1,225,568. The exact figure is The Drive’s reported sale result, not an independently verified current valuation.
