Angel Iris Murphy Brown was born on April 3, 2007; reports in June said DNA testing confirmed Murphy’s paternity, and he publicly acknowledged it in August. 2006: A brief relationship ends
The pair dated briefly in 2006. In a December interview with Dutch television, Murphy said they were no longer together and said paternity should be settled with a blood test. April 2007: Angel is born
Brown gave birth to Angel Iris Murphy Brown on April 3, 2007. Later that month, she explained the name: “Murphy because he’s the dad. And Brown, because I’m the mum!” She said Angel had been her “little angel” during pregnancy and Iris was her grandmother’s name. RTÉ, April 24, 2007

June and August 2007: Paternity is confirmed and acknowledged
Contemporary reports in June said a DNA test confirmed Murphy was Angel’s biological father. The publicly available reporting establishes that the result was reported at the time; it does not provide an independently reviewed copy of the test report. RTÉ, June 25, 2007
In August, Brown filed a petition in Los Angeles Superior Court seeking legal establishment of paternity, custody, and child support. On August 4, Murphy’s publicist acknowledged paternity and said Murphy had paid support and pregnancy expenses. What Brown later said about Murphy and Angel
In a 2018 interview, Brown said Angel had been spending time with Murphy regularly during the previous two years. She described their relationship as strong and said: “The last two years, Angel goes there every other week — whenever she wants, holidays, whenever — and they have a very good, strong relationship and I’m so happy about that.” This describes Brown’s account in 2018, not a current visitation schedule. In 2024 interview coverage, Brown said co-parenting with Murphy had “flourished” in recent years. Her comments offer her view of how the family relationship developed; they do not establish private arrangements beyond what she shared publicly. Us Weekly, 2024

What is known about child support
In October 2022, The Independent reported, citing court documents seen by another publication, that an arrangement called for $35,000 per month retroactive to October 2022 until Angel turned 18 in 2025. That report describes a historical term; it does not establish a payment or obligation after that term ended. The Independent, October 8, 2022
