Bec Judd’s famous red Ruth Tarvydas dress was displayed at Crown Melbourne in 2024, two decades after she wore it to the Brownlow Medal ceremony. The “reunion” was a display of the dress—not evidence that Judd wore it again. She has said it was donated to charity and auctioned, and that she had not seen it since.
The dress that brought Bec Judd into the spotlight
In 2004, Rebecca Twigley—now known as Bec Judd—wore a striking red gown by Perth designer Ruth Tarvydas to the Brownlow Medal ceremony. The event was held at Crown Melbourne, where her then-boyfriend, West Coast Eagles player Chris Judd, was among the AFL’s leading players. Coverage of the dress helped make Twigley a prominent public figure.
Looking back 20 years later, Judd told PerthNow: “I can’t believe it’s been 20 years since I wore the red dress to the Brownlow at Crown. That night definitely changed my life, and I’m forever grateful.” The West Australian also revisited the dress in a 2025 retrospective, where Judd said, “I had no idea,” reflecting on the scale of the attention it attracted.
What happened to the red dress?
Judd has said the gown was donated to charity and sold at auction. She said she had not seen it since. Reports differ on the sale price, and the available accounts do not reconcile the figures:

In the 7NEWS account, Chris Judd said: “The red dress took an interesting turn,” and recalled: “She donated it to charity and it sold for 20 grand which is a huge cheque … and 20 years ago I guess it’s even a bigger cheque.” The contemporaneous A$23,000 report and his later A$20,000 recollection should be treated as separate reported figures, not as a single confirmed price.
What the 2024 “reunion” meant
PerthNow reported that Crown Melbourne planned to display the gown from July 11 to August 22, 2024, as part of celebrations for the venue’s 30th birthday. That was the reunion covered in headlines: the dress was brought back into public view at the place where Judd wore it. The reports establish a planned exhibition, not a repeat wearing by Judd.

Her website is now a historical archive; it says the brand is no longer operating and that the site is maintained on a non-commercial basis.
