Alessia Cara has not left music. Since winning Best New Artist at the 2018 Grammy Awards, she has released more albums, toured and continued performing. Her recent work includes the 2025 pop album Love & Hyperbole and the 2026 collection Love Or Lack Thereof, which reimagines songs from her catalog in jazz- and soul-inspired arrangements. She has also said she is more deliberate about keeping her private life separate from her public career.

What has Alessia Cara released recently?

Cara’s most recent work shows two different ways she is approaching her catalog: a new album of songs and a collection that revisits earlier material.

Love & Hyperbole (2025)

Released on February 14, 2025, Love & Hyperbole was Cara’s fourth full-length album. Universal Music Canada described its 14 tracks as tracing infatuation, love, heartbreak and letting go. The label also announced an international headline tour scheduled from April 6 to June 19, 2025. Those dates have passed. Universal Music Canada’s album announcement has the release details.

Love & Hyperbole (Deluxe) (2025)

The deluxe edition arrived on October 24, 2025, adding three previously unreleased tracks. Universal Music Canada announced a North American tour scheduled for October 29 to November 12, 2025; those dates have also passed. The label’s deluxe-edition announcement lists the release and tour details.

Love Or Lack Thereof (2026)

Released March 20, 2026, Love Or Lack Thereof is a 12-track reworking of songs from Cara’s catalog in jazz- and soul-inspired styles. Its collaborations include Norah Jones and Nelly Furtado. Cara told Vanity Fair Italia that revisiting the songs felt like reopening a closed book and rewriting it; she also reflected on how her voice and emotional perspective had changed. Universal Music Canada’s release page provides the track details.

The two albums offer a simple listening distinction: Love & Hyperbole is a collection of new material, while Love Or Lack Thereof revisits existing songs through different arrangements.

Has she continued performing?

Yes. In addition to the 2025 tours, Universal Music Canada reported on June 12, 2026, that Cara had released an intimate Giant Desk Concert video and was set to perform at the FIFA World Cup opening ceremony in Toronto that day. The label’s announcement described the performance as forthcoming on the date it was published, so it establishes what was announced, not an independent recap of the event. Read the label announcement.

Cara’s career also includes her early breakout with “Here” and her 2015 debut album Know-It-All, followed by The Pains of Growing in 2018 and In the Meantime in 2021. She won Best New Artist at the 60th Grammy Awards in 2018. A GRAMMY.com feature with the GRAMMY Museum recalls her early shyness about sharing her singing online; Cara said, “The closest thing to singing for an audience was doing it in a way that I didn’t have to actually be in front of them.”

Why might she have seemed less visible?

In an interview published by Vanity Fair Italia on April 9, 2026, Cara said she has become better at separating “Alessia the artist” from Alessia as a private person. She described stepping away from social media when she is home and not working, and said that this leaves her feeling more balanced and at peace. She also reflected on pressure in the music industry to be an influencer or online personality and on how quickly music can seem to lose public attention.

That is Cara’s personal explanation for how she manages visibility, not evidence of a formal hiatus. The interview discusses boundaries and balance alongside her ongoing music career. Read the interview in Vanity Fair Italia.

Is Alessia Cara planning to act or write for television?

She has said she would like to explore acting, create a show or write for television. In the April 2026 interview, she presented those ideas as things she would enjoy doing, not as a confirmed project. The interview does not announce a role, production or release date.

How to understand her career since the Grammy win

The clearest picture is continued work rather than disappearance: Cara released several albums after her 2018 award, toured in 2025, and in 2026 explored her back catalog through new arrangements. Her comments about privacy help explain why she may be less constantly visible online, but they should not be mistaken for a departure from music.
