Ranaut, then a newly elected BJP MP from Mandi and an actor, said the incident took place in the airport security area after screening. In a statement reproduced by The Indian Express on June 6, 2024, she said she had been “abused and hit on the face.” That is Ranaut’s account of the encounter; the allegation should not be treated as an independently established finding.

On June 7, The Tribune reported that CISF DIG Vinay Kajla characterized the episode as an “emotional outburst” and said Kaur was apologetic. The characterization and reported apology were attributed to the official; they do not amount to a final inquiry finding. Read The Tribune’s June 7 account.

On July 3, 2024, The Indian Express reported that Kaur had been transferred to a CISF unit in Bengaluru while the internal inquiry was still ongoing.
