Rebelo was later sentenced to life imprisonment with a 25-year minimum, ABC News reported on 1 April 2025.

PerthNow reported that Piscopo shared photographs with her son in matching Christmas pyjamas and wrote: “Making magic for my baby, finding moments of joy where we can.”

She continued: “Tough times build tough people, I will always choose to radiate love and look forward to the future with an open heart as I know there is always a light within the darkness.” The words were reported as a social-media post, not as an interview or a statement made in court. PerthNow reported the post on 21 December 2024.
What had happened in the case?
On 5 December 2024, ABC News reported that a jury found Rebelo guilty of murdering his mother, Colleen, after an eight-week trial in the Supreme Court of Western Australia. Piscopo’s post came after that verdict. ABC News’s verdict report gives the trial context.

What happened to Andre Rebelo after the conviction?
Sentencing took place later. ABC News reported on 1 April 2025 that Rebelo received life imprisonment with a minimum term of 25 years. Its report attributed to Justice Bruno Fiannaca the remark: “The only reasonable inference is that you took your mother by surprise,” and described the judge’s comments about the staging of Colleen Rebelo’s body in the shower. Was Piscopo accused of wrongdoing?
