Gisele Bündchen announced a $1 million gift to support Lotus House’s Children’s Village in Miami’s Overtown neighborhood at the project’s groundbreaking on April 25, 2023. Contemporary reporting connected the contribution to a playground and educational programming—not to the shelter’s general operating budget.
Where the $1 million gift went
The recipient was Lotus House, a Miami organization serving women, youth, and children experiencing homelessness. Bündchen’s gift was tied to its Children’s Village, a dedicated project for children and families, rather than described as an unrestricted donation to the shelter.
At the groundbreaking, the Miami Herald reported that the money would support a new playground and educational programming. The playground was one part of a broader campus and service project. Bündchen told the newspaper: “Building a solid community for children is so important, especially for those who are vulnerable and in need.” (Miami Herald, April 25, 2023)
What the Children’s Village became
In November 2025, Lotus House announced that the Children’s Village had opened. The organization describes it as a 70,000-square-foot campus devoted to education, health, and creative expression for children and families. Its opening announcement also reiterated that Bündchen’s $1 million contribution supported building a playground. (Lotus House, November 2025)
