Frankie Valli said in 2024 that he loved performing and that nobody was forcing him to go onstage, after brief clips of his shows prompted online concern. That statement addressed his desire to perform; it did not settle questions about what the clips showed or whether particular vocals were live. In May 2026, Valli canceled the rest of his 2026 tour dates, citing health concerns, without publicly naming a diagnosis in the Associated Press report.
What did Frankie Valli say about the viral performance videos?
In a statement reported by The Guardian on October 1, 2024, Valli pushed back against suggestions that he was being made to perform against his wishes. The Guardian said the statement was shared with People.

“I absolutely love what I do.”
He also said, “Nobody has ever made me do anything I didn’t want to do,” and added: “I plan to be doing shows as long as I can, delivering that great Four Seasons sound.” These are Valli’s statements about his own wishes and plans at that time.
Why did the performance clips draw concern?
Short clips circulating online appeared to show Valli struggling to keep up with choreography during “December 1963 (Oh What a Night)” and missing lyrics in “Bye, Bye, Baby (Baby, Goodbye),” according to descriptions published by Us Weekly on September 30, 2024 and The Guardian. They were excerpts, not a complete record of a concert. They cannot establish Valli’s medical condition, whether he consented to perform, or how an entire show went.
#1 Best Overall
- 60s Greatest Hits, a newly-curated compilation of the "Jersey Boys" chart toppers from that decade includes "Sherry," "Bye Bye Baby (Baby Goodbye)," "Big Girls Don't Cry," "Walk Like A Man" and many more. On 140g Sea Blue Vinyl, spinning this record will instantly transport the listener to a soft breeze by the Jersey Shore, soda jerks, ice cream sundaes, and sock hops.
Were the vocals live?
Accounts of Valli’s vocals in 2024 differed. In its October 27, 2024 report, The Washington Post described Valli rejecting the suggestion that he was not singing. Former Four Seasons member Lee Shapiro told the Post that Valli lip-synced at least some of the time. The Post also recounted its own observations and audience members’ differing expectations of the concert.
Valli described the Four Seasons sound as layered vocals and instruments, with singers and arrangements, according to The Guardian’s account of his statement. That explanation did not resolve whether vocals in any particular performance were live, recorded, or layered. The available accounts should not be collapsed into a single claim about every song or show.
Rank #2
- Frankie Valli & The Four Seasons 70s Greatest Hits showcase an older, more experience, more world-wearied side to the famous group. Featuring chart toppers including "December 1963 (Oh What A Night)," and "My Eyes Adored You," this collection also has "Swearin' To God," "Fallen Angel," "Silver Star," and "We're All Alone" among other cuts from this era on 140g Sea blue color vinyl
Is Frankie Valli still touring?
No remaining 2026 tour dates were scheduled after Valli canceled them in May 2026. The Associated Press reported that he cited health concerns and quoted his social-media message: “I’m so sorry to disappoint the folks who have purchased tickets to my shows, but I have decided to take the rest of the year off from touring to focus on my health.” The AP report did not identify a diagnosis.
The 2026 cancellation is a later development than Valli’s 2024 response to the viral clips. His earlier statement expressed his wishes then; it does not explain the later health-related decision, and the later decision does not establish that he was forced to perform in 2024.
