As of October 8, 2026, no DVD or Blu-ray release has been confirmed by an official announcement or retailer listing. The theatrical run varied by country, so the dates below are listed by territory rather than as one worldwide release.
The theatrical run, territory by territory
There was no single worldwide opening date. Each release date below comes from a specific source, and the table shows which source reported it.
| Territory | Date reported | Source and what it establishes |
|---|---|---|
| United States and Canada (Regal-reported opening weekend) | Thursday, January 29 to Sunday, February 1, 2026 | Regal’s February 2, 2026 release. It describes the opening weekend at Regal theatres, not every cinema in North America. |
| Germany, Austria, Poland, the Netherlands, Belgium, Luxembourg, Czechia, Slovakia, Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Finland, Iceland, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania | January 30, 2026 | Piece of Magic Entertainment’s announcement of its European theatrical release. The date applies to the territories it names; it does not show that every other country received the film on that day. |
| United Kingdom | January 29, 2026 | The British Board of Film Classification (BBFC) record, which lists Shear Entertainment as distributor and a cinema-use 2D classification. |
Piece of Magic Entertainment also described the U.S. run as self-distributed, carried out through work with independent theatres. Regal, which booked the film at its own locations, is one of the larger exhibitors that screened it, so readers in other countries should check local listings rather than assume the same dates applied.
Box-office claims and how to attribute them
Regal said the film accounted for 19% of admissions among North American exhibitors of the release at Regal theatres during its opening weekend. That figure describes Regal’s own locations and Regal’s comparison group, not the total box office.

In December 2025, before the release, Regal’s VP of Alternative Content James Lamar said: “We quickly worked with Markiplier’s team to make Iron Lung showtimes widely available at 360 locations across the Regal network.” That describes the booking network Regal arranged at the time, not showtimes available today.
Regal’s February 2, 2026 announcement also said Iron Lung “now lays claim to the biggest opening weekend for a feature film from a digital creator.” This is Regal’s claim. No independent all-industry ranking that confirms it was established, so it should be attributed to Regal if quoted.

No DVD or Blu-ray release has been confirmed. The official site and the Google Play listing both point to digital access, and neither mentions a disc edition. Until a current official announcement or retailer listing appears, treat any disc edition as unconfirmed.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. What the film is
The official site describes a post-apocalyptic setting in which “The Quiet Rapture” has caused known stars and habitable planets to disappear. A convict is sent in a small submarine to investigate an ocean of blood on a desolate moon.
The official page lists Mark Fischbach as writer, director, editor and executive producer. It names David Szymanski as the creator of the game on which the film is based.
Runtime across sources
The running time differs slightly depending on the source. Attribute the figure to the source you quote.
| Source | Runtime | Version or context |
|---|---|---|
| Official Iron Lung site | 2 hours 7 minutes | Official film page |
| Google Play Movies | 124 minutes | U.S. storefront listing |
| BBFC | 124 minutes 36 seconds | UK cinema version |
The gap appears to be display rounding or a difference in version presentation. No source explains it.
Rating and content advisories
The official site describes Iron Lung as an R-rated horror and science-fiction film. The BBFC’s UK record lists content advice that includes strong language, bloody images and threat, among other items. Ratings and advisories are set by each jurisdiction, so the R rating applies to the official site’s framing and the BBFC advice applies only to the UK classification.
