In Pokémon conversations, “sus” is ordinary slang for suspicious. Fans use it for a Pokémon, character, action, or situation that seems deceptive, questionable, or simply odd. It is not established here as an official Pokémon term or game mechanic.
What “sus” means
“Sus” is a shortened form of “suspicious.” It can describe something that seems untrustworthy or out of place, and can also be used in connection with a suspect. A community glossary for Among Us records these slang uses.
In gaming conversation, the word is strongly associated with Among Us, where players try to identify an impostor among the crewmates. Nintendo used “sus” in that context in its July 27, 2021 article, “How to be suspicious in Among Us.”
Why Pokémon fans call some Pokémon “sus”
Fans may use the word for Pokémon that look unusual, seem deceptive, or bring an impostor joke to mind. In Pokémon Forums discussions from July 2025, users described Amoonguss, Ditto, and Zoroark as “sus,” drawing on ideas such as disguises and impostors. These are examples of fan conversation, not official definitions or statements of Pokémon canon.

Amoonguss
Amoonguss can prompt an Among Us-style joke: its name evokes “among,” and fans may frame it as an impostor hiding in a group. Calling it “sus” in that context means it seems suspicious as part of the joke; it does not describe a special ability or official classification.
Ditto and Zoroark
Ditto’s Imposter ability and Zoroark’s disguise-related traits give fans an easy reason to joke that they are acting suspiciously. “Sus” remains a conversational label rather than a game mechanic.

Is “sus” an official Pokémon term?
The sources available for this explanation show “sus” as ordinary slang used by fans, not as an established Pokémon term or mechanic. The distinction matters: a fan can call a Pokémon suspicious or joke that it is an impostor without the game assigning that label any official meaning.

The available reference coverage describes “sus” as slang that predates Among Us, while noting that the game made it familiar in conversations about suspecting an impostor. The sources do not establish a definitive origin date or measure how much the game influenced its popularity, so it is more accurate to describe Among Us as a prominent association than as the proven inventor.
