Dean Cain said he recognized a photograph of his mother in a friend’s album of Playboy pictures when he was in fifth grade. He recalled that he already knew the image because it had been displayed beside her bed, and said the discovery did not embarrass him.
How Cain recalled finding the photograph
In an account reported by Wesley Stenzel for Entertainment Weekly and republished by AOL on May 7, 2025, Cain told Michael Rosenbaum about the incident on the Inside of You podcast. Cain said a friend called him over after finding his father’s old Playboy magazines collected in photo albums.

When his friend pointed to the picture, Cain recognized his mother and said, “That’s my mom, dude.” Cain recalled that the photograph had been displayed beside her bed, so it was already familiar to him.
Was Cain embarrassed?
No. Cain said he “didn’t even think twice about it” and that the boys laughed together. His account describes a casual reaction, not an embarrassing confrontation.

What the report says about the image
The report says Cain’s mother had worked as a Playboy Bunny and had one Playboy photo shoot. Cain described the photograph as a rear-facing pose in a see-through negligee. The report does not identify the magazine issue, publication date, or page, so it does not establish which edition contained the image.
