The clearest reported example is a remark about Senator Chuck Schumer: the Associated Press reported that CBS left out Trump’s claim that Schumer would rather see the country fail than see Trump and Republicans succeed. The interview exists in three distinct records—a 28-minute broadcast, an online extended version listed as 74 minutes by CBS, and a transcript—so the transcript alone cannot show exactly what was cut from either video.
What AP reported was cut from the broadcast
In its November 2025 account of the editing, the Associated Press reported that the televised interview omitted Trump’s remark that Schumer would rather see the country fail than have Trump and Republicans do well. That is a specific reported difference between the broadcast and the conversation—not evidence that every passage absent from the broadcast was also omitted from the extended video.
The AP described the broadcast segment as 28 minutes long. Its report characterized editorial selection in terms of clarity and newsworthiness, but it does not establish why CBS excluded this particular remark. Read the Associated Press account of the editing.
Which version are you comparing?
The records have different purposes and lengths. CBS published the interview transcript and an extended video; the transcript documents the conversation in text, while a direct comparison of the video versions is needed to establish which passages appear in each cut.

| Record | What it establishes | Duration |
|---|---|---|
| Television broadcast | The aired interview segment; AP reported the Schumer remark was left out. | 28 minutes, according to AP. |
| Online extended interview | A longer video published by CBS. Its listing says the interview was condensed for clarity. | AP described a 73-minute discussion; CBS’s listing gives a 74-minute runtime. These are source-specific descriptions, not a single verified exact duration. |
| Transcript | A written record of the conversation; it is not itself a comparison of the broadcast and extended-video edits. | Not stated. |
Find the CBS extended interview listing and CBS’s full transcript. The runtime difference between AP’s 73-minute description and CBS’s 74-minute listing should not be collapsed into a falsely precise measurement.
What Trump said about the earlier Harris interview dispute
In the transcript, Trump says, “And actually 60 Minutes paid me a lotta money.” He also calls an answer edited from the earlier Kamala Harris interview “election-changing” and praises CBS’s new ownership and leadership. These are Trump’s statements, not independent confirmation of his account of the settlement or the effect of that earlier edit. The transcript records his remarks.

The Harris interview dispute is separate background. In January 2025, CBS said it would comply with an FCC inquiry by providing transcript and camera feeds concerning that interview. CBS described its general approach this way: “When we edit any interview, whether a politician, an athlete, or movie star, we strive to be clear, accurate and on point.” That earlier statement does not establish the reason for any edit in the later Trump interview. CBS News reported on the FCC inquiry and CBS’s statement.

There is a documented transcript, a published extended-video listing, AP’s account of the broadcast, and AP’s report of the Schumer omission. CBS says the extended version was condensed for clarity; AP discusses editorial choices involving clarity and newsworthiness. Those explanations do not reveal the motive for each individual edit, and an omission by itself does not prove an intent to mislead.
