On August 6, 2014, Calvin Harris objected on Twitter to claims that he used a “ghost producer.” He reportedly said he had spent 16 years working on production and described himself as a producer, songwriter, lyricist, mixer and occasional singer. Those remarks record his response; they do not independently establish who contributed to his records.
What did Calvin Harris say?

- “Honest to God nothing more annoying than people telling me i have a ghost producer smh”
- “Working on this 16 years to be told some old guy in a secret studio must be making my records for me”
- “Producing is something that i am good at. I also write songs. Lyrics. And i mix them. & sometimes i sing them. Fuck ye.”
The report presents these as his Twitter remarks. A Portuguese-language account by Portal Popline also described the exchange and explained a ghost producer as someone who does production work without receiving credit.
What does “ghost producer” mean here?
In the explanation accompanying its coverage, Portal Popline uses “ghost producer” for a person who carries out production work but is not credited. The term concerns attribution: it does not, by itself, specify how much work was done or what role a credited artist had.

What the exchange does—and does not—establish
Harris’s reported comments are a denial of the accusation and a description of the skills and experience he said he brought to his music. They are not an independently verified account of the production process behind particular records. The cited reports neither prove nor disprove the allegation, nor do they provide a complete accounting of collaborators or credits.
