What was Brittany Murphy asked about Eminem?
The reported question concerned whether Eminem had been nervous while filming scenes with Murphy for 8 Mile. Rather than answer for him, Murphy reportedly said the interviewer would have to ask Eminem directly.

What did Murphy reportedly say?
Nicki Swift’s 2021 article, “Inside Brittany Murphy And Eminem’s Relationship,” attributes this wording to Murphy: “You would have to ask him,” she joked. “I don’t want to pop up in some song or something. I’m being careful.” The article says the exchange came from a November 2002 interview with The Morning Call.
The original Morning Call interview was not located for direct verification, so the quotation and its attribution should be understood as Nicki Swift’s account of that earlier interview. A 2023 retelling by goc5.com also describes the exchange, framing Murphy’s joke as concern about becoming “diss material”; that phrase is the later writer’s characterization, not part of the quoted wording attributed to Murphy.

Was Eminem actually nervous?
The reported answer does not establish whether Eminem was nervous on set. Murphy declined to speak for him, and the available accounts provide no direct confirmation of his state of mind during filming.
Was the song remark a real threat?
No such threat is established by the anecdote. Murphy’s line is presented as a joke about possibly appearing in a song, not as evidence that Eminem intended to write one about her. The accounts cited here do not document an actual diss track about Murphy.

Nicki Swift’s 2021 article also attributes favorable remarks about Eminem to Murphy, including descriptions of him as misunderstood and brilliant. These, too, are secondary attributions rather than statements checked against original interview transcripts here.
