In a June 22, 2022, interview with PerthNow, Australian creator Ariella Nyssa said she had been married and divorced before turning 20 and experienced what she called a “bad depression” after the divorce. She described a turning point in which she reminded herself she was worthy of love. Her account is a personal story, not a complete timeline: the report does not establish her former spouse’s identity, the reasons for the divorce or its exact dates.

What Nyssa said happened after her divorce

PerthNow’s Jessie Stoelwinder reported that Nyssa was 25 at the time of publication and had been married and divorced before age 20. In the interview, Nyssa said, “When I got my divorce, I was in a bad depression,” describing the emotional aftermath in her own words. The report does not provide clinical details or establish how long that period lasted.

Nyssa told the outlet that she reached a moment of recognition about her own worth: “But I had a light-bulb moment where I told myself I was worthy, I was enough and I deserve love.” The account presents this as her recollection of a personal turning point, not as a universal formula for recovering from divorce.

Why sharing her experience mattered to her

Nyssa said that speaking publicly about her perspective was difficult at first, but ultimately felt liberating: “But taking that step to share my perspective was also really freeing and empowering.” Her story links that act of disclosure with the self-worth message she later brought to her audience.

That public discussion did not mean she shared every detail of her marriage. The PerthNow report does not identify her former spouse or explain the circumstances of the divorce, so those details should not be inferred.

From self-worth to body acceptance

Nyssa’s advocacy also focuses on body image and the gap between edited pictures and ordinary bodies. In the 2022 PerthNow interview, she argued that altered images should be labelled, comparing that disclosure to advertising: “You need to put that something is an advertisement on Instagram; it should be the same if something is edited,” she said. This was her opinion about transparency, not a description of current law or Instagram policy.

The Body Image Movement’s undated profile quotes Nyssa describing acceptance of her own body: “I love my body, and I love all the lumps and bumps and my cellulite,” she said. The profile also records her view that self-acceptance is not static: “Self-love is a journey, and each day is going to be different.” These statements reflect her personal approach, rather than a claim that everyone’s experience follows the same path.

In the PerthNow interview, Nyssa distinguished inward reflection from external treats such as facials or bubble baths. “All these things can make you feel good, but self-love is more about going inwards and reflecting on who you are,” she said. It is a perspective on what self-love means to her, not a rule against enjoyable self-care.

How The Self-Love Bible fits into her story

PerthNow reported in June 2022 that Nyssa’s first book, Ariella Nyssa’s Self-Love Bible, had just been released. The Body Image Movement profile later describes it as an interactive journal. Together, those descriptions connect her emphasis on reflection with a resource she made public; they do not establish the book’s current edition or availability.

How her account continued in later interviews

Nyssa had discussed divorce and body confidence before the PerthNow feature. The Happiness Planner published a podcast episode with her on March 12, 2020, describing its subjects as divorce, body confidence, self-love, cellulite, online criticism and personal development. That earlier conversation places the themes in a longer-running public discussion, without providing a detailed account of her marriage.

An October 7, 2024, episode description from The Self Love Bible podcast says interviewer Chris David spoke with Nyssa about adversity in starting her social-media journey, divorce, rumours, judgment and pursuing goals. The description confirms those topics were discussed; it does not independently verify the rumours or describe their details.
