Amy Roloff later said she believed Matt Roloff and Caryn Chandler, the Roloff family farm’s manager, were more than friends while Amy and Matt were still married. That is Amy’s account and interpretation—not an independently confirmed finding that they had an affair.
What Amy said about Matt and Caryn
In 2019, Amy discussed her suspicions in connection with her memoir A Little Me and a video recorded on March 31. She said Matt was spending more time at a tavern and that the farm manager seemed to be around more often. Amy wrote that she saw messages and pictures she considered beyond the bounds of a work relationship between people who were married to others. Those details are her account, as reported by Us Weekly.

In the video, Amy described her conclusion as her own perspective: “I believe — this is all from my perspective — you know that there was more than just friends going on.” She added that she thought the situation “evolved to a point where that got in the way of our marriage as well,” according to PopCulture.com.
The distinction matters: Amy said she believed there was more than friendship. The reports documenting her statements do not independently verify an affair, so the claim should not be presented as established fact.

When the separation and divorce happened
The couple’s marital difficulties became public before Amy’s 2019 comments. Little People, Big World launched in 2006, according to the Los Angeles Times. Matt later said that around Thanksgiving 2013, after a difficult year and mounting tensions, he moved for a time into the farm’s bridal house; the Times described this as the start of their trial separation.
On March 12, 2014, Matt characterized the arrangement as “more of just giving each other some space.” Amy said his leaving was not her choice and that she was saddened. Their trial separation was not the same as a legal divorce: PopCulture.com reported that the divorce was finalized in April 2016, after 27 years of marriage.

Amy later said she chose not to show every detail of the divorce on television partly to protect her children. In 2021, she explained: “You have to own it. You have to keep some of it to yourself. And to me, it was for the sake of the kids that we just [didn’t] plaster this all over the place either.” Entertainment Tonight reported her comments.
By 2024, Amy described the family relationship with Matt and Caryn as better, while making clear she did not expect to be best friends with them, as Us Weekly reported. That later cordiality is separate from her account of what she suspected before the separation.
