Her comments came on CNN, one day before Biden and Jill Biden were scheduled to appear live on The View.
What Alyssa Farah Griffin said about Biden
Griffin appeared on CNN with host John Berman on Wednesday, May 7. In Fox News’ account of the segment, she described Biden as “the messenger no Democrat wants to see out there right now” and said, “Listen, people are ready to move on.” She advised him: “If I were giving advice to Joe Biden, it’d be give your legacy some time to breathe.” Fox News reported her remarks; the available account does not establish a full transcript of the CNN segment.

Her criticism also included acknowledgment
Griffin’s assessment, as reported, was not solely critical. She credited Biden with holding NATO together, while pointing to his administration’s withdrawal from Afghanistan as a criticism. Those are Griffin’s judgments as conveyed in the report, rather than independently established conclusions here.
When Biden and Jill Biden were scheduled to appear on The View
ABC announced on May 1 that Joe and Jill Biden would join the co-hosts live in studio on Thursday, May 8, from 11 a.m. to noon EDT. ABC described it as their first interview since leaving the White House in January 2025. The network said the planned discussion would address life after the presidency, Biden’s legacy, Democrats’ election losses and the political landscape. Those were announced topics, not a transcript or confirmation of everything discussed during the interview. ABC’s announcement provides the schedule and planned subjects.

A separate comment from S.E. Cupp
Fox News also quoted CNN political commentator S.E. Cupp saying, “The message is fine, the messenger is irrelevant.” That was Cupp’s separate opinion, not Griffin’s statement.
