The argument was personal opinion, not evidence that one place is objectively better.
What did Jordan Tan say about Perth and Queensland?
PerthNow reported that freelance model and content creator Jordan Tan made the comparison after travelling to Queensland. In the video, as quoted by the outlet, she said: “Perth is so bad, honestly,” and added: “I get WA beaches are amazing but Queensland is where it’s at.” She also praised Queensland’s palm trees and weather, saying: “Day one and I am ready to move. There’s palm trees everywhere, the weather’s nice.”
These are statements attributed to Tan and reproduced by PerthNow; the report does not independently verify the original TikTok or give her a formal role beyond describing her as a freelance model and content creator. PerthNow’s report was published on 13 June 2024.
Why did the post prompt disagreement?
The comparison set Tan’s enthusiasm for Queensland’s weather and palm trees against her acknowledgement that Western Australia has excellent beaches. PerthNow reported that commenters both challenged and agreed with her view. One commenter wrote, “Stfu RIGHT NOW Perth is the BEST”; a Queensland resident quoted in the story said they were born and raised in Queensland but “beg to differ hugely,” praising WA waters.

Those comments illustrate the disagreement but do not establish what Perth, Queensland, or Australian residents generally think. They are examples from a comment thread, not a representative survey or expert assessment.
How widely was the TikTok viewed?
At the time PerthNow published its report on 13 June 2024, it said the video had more than 8,000 views and more than 129 likes. Those are figures reported at that date, not current counts, and they do not show that viewers broadly agreed with Tan.

No. “Better” is a subjective verdict, and the story does not offer a systematic comparison. It also compares unlike geographic units: Perth is a city, while Queensland is a state. The report covers Tan’s reaction to a visit and the online response; it does not assess climate, beaches, cost of living, lifestyle, or other factors on a like-for-like basis.
