A strong editorial shortlist of West Bromwich Albion’s five most famous supporters is Eric Clapton, Sir Lenny Henry, Frank Skinner, Adrian Chiles and Dame Julie Walters. West Brom News named those five in a feature published on 9 September 2025; the club’s official Famous Fans page independently confirms four of them. This is a sourced selection, not a measured ranking: the available sources do not compare fame or establish a definitive top five.
Who are West Brom’s five famous supporters?
The shortlist brings together musicians, comedians, broadcasters and actors whose connections to Albion range from documented club history to match attendance and public work about football. The club’s Famous Fans page confirms Clapton, Henry, Skinner and Chiles as supporters. West Brom News includes Walters in its five-person feature, but she does not appear on the club page.
Eric Clapton
Clapton has two distinctive historical links in the club’s account: he wore an Albion scarf on the cover of his album Backless, and sponsored West Brom’s UEFA Cup tie against Galatasaray in 1978. Those documented connections make him an especially memorable name on the list, without requiring an unsupported claim about how often he follows the team.
Sir Lenny Henry
The club identifies comedian Sir Lenny Henry as an Albion fan. West Brom News describes him as a lifelong supporter and traces his public allegiance to the 1970s; that lifelong characterization belongs to the news feature, rather than the club’s brief profile.
Frank Skinner
The club highlights Skinner’s appearances on Fantasy Football League, where he regularly showcased Albion and West Brom legend Jeff Astle also featured. The club page also credits Skinner and David Baddiel’s England football anthem “Three Lions” with four separate stints at number one in the UK charts. That chart detail is the club’s attribution.

Adrian Chiles
Chiles’s connection is visible in both his work and his matchgoing. The club says the broadcaster regularly attends The Hawthorns, holds a season ticket, has hosted club events, and presented the Albion-themed BBC documentary Whites v Blacks: How Football Changed a Nation. West Brom News identifies his 2007 book as We Don’t Know What We’re Doing and says it documents West Brom supporters he met during the 2005/06 season.
Dame Julie Walters
Actor Dame Julie Walters completes West Brom News’s five-person selection. The feature identifies her as a supporter; the club’s Famous Fans page does not include her, so her place here rests on that secondary source rather than an official club profile.

Why this is a shortlist, not a definitive ranking
“Most famous” depends on how fame is judged. The sources provide no survey, comparative statistic or ranking method. This list follows West Brom News’s published five-person selection while using the club’s page to distinguish which names Albion itself identifies as famous fans.
The club page also names Joe Lycett, Stu Hartland, the late Jon Brookes, Richie Woodhall, Tommy Langford, Goran Ivanisevic, Matthew Marsden, Josie Lawrence and Mary Rhodes. Its broader list has a different scope from West Brom News’s chosen five, so other credible selections are possible.

What makes these supporters notable?
The five have different kinds of documented connection rather than a common measure of support. Clapton’s links are historical and tied to the club’s account of a European match and an album cover. Henry and Skinner are comedians whose public profiles intersect with football; Skinner’s television work provides a particularly direct Albion connection. Chiles’s support is reflected in match attendance, a season ticket and football-related projects. Walters is included by West Brom News, but not on the club’s own list.
