Yes. Beth Behrs and Kat Dennings described themselves as close friends while working on 2 Broke Girls. Behrs said they connected at their final audition, before filming began; Dennings later recalled their friendship as close during production. Their off-screen friendship was not the same thing as a romance, and a kiss the actresses filmed for the show was cut from the episode.
How Behrs said their friendship began
In a 2011 interview with the Daily Bruin, Behrs recalled that her final audition was with Dennings and that they connected immediately: “as soon as we met it was instant friendship and we just really connected.” She also said the cast spent time together and that she and Dennings were often together for press and work. Why the actors’ friendship and the characters’ friendship developed differently
Behrs made a distinction between the actors’ real-life rapport and the relationship they played onscreen. In an Entertainment Tonight interview as the show’s third season was beginning production in 2013, she said she and Dennings were immediate friends, while Max and Caroline were still divided in season one. She said the characters became closer in season two and that the writers noticed how goofy the actresses were together off set, then began incorporating some of that energy into the characters. What Dennings said about their time on set
Looking back in 2019, Dennings described her friendship with Behrs during the show’s production as close. In an interview with Marie Claire, she said: “Beth [Behrs] and I had such a close friendship while shooting 2 Broke Girls.” Read Dennings’s interview with Marie Claire.

What the cut kiss scene does—and does not—mean
At PaleyFest in 2013, Dennings said she and Behrs had filmed a kiss for an episode, but the scene was cut because the creative team considered it unnecessary. Dennings joked, “Trivia: [Beth and I have] done that already, it just got cut out.” That is a production anecdote about a scene intended for the characters; it is not evidence that the actresses had an off-screen romance or kissed in real life. The interviews support a clear but limited conclusion: Behrs and Dennings said they were friends during the show, with Behrs describing an immediate connection and Dennings later recalling a close friendship while shooting. Behrs also said their rapport informed aspects of the characters’ growing friendship. These accounts describe their relationship during production; they do not establish how close they are today or provide a detailed account of their friendship after the series ended.
