When it arrived on Max
Warner Bros. Discovery announced on January 14, 2025 that A24’s We Live in Time would make its streaming debut on Max on Friday, February 7. The same announcement scheduled a linear airing on HBO for Saturday, February 8, 2025 at 8:00 p.m. ET. The sentence was issued by Warner Bros. Discovery’s pressroom as a company announcement, with no individual credited.

Two qualifications apply. First, the announcement describes a debut, not permanent availability; streaming catalogs rotate. Second, it does not establish availability in every country, because film rights are licensed territory by territory. Warner Bros. Discovery has since renamed Max as HBO Max, so if you search for the service today, look for the film under its current name and confirm that it is still in the catalog where you live.
Where to watch digitally now
A24’s film page lists these options under “Watch Now”:
#1 Best Overall
- Factory sealed DVD
- Apple TV
- Amazon
- Google Play
- YouTube
- Fandango at Home
Apple TV also has its own listing for the 2024 film, which describes it as a drama and romance with a runtime of 1 hour 47 minutes. Both pages were current when they were checked. Storefront selection varies by region and changes over time, so confirm the option is offered in your country before you pay for it.
The original digital release date
The sources checked do not include a dated announcement of the film’s first digital rental or purchase release, and they do not establish one for any specific territory or storefront. Do not assume it matched the February 2025 Max debut. If you need the exact digital launch date, the most reliable checks are A24’s own announcements and the release information shown on the individual storefront listing.

Physical media
A24 sells a Blu-ray edition through its online shop, with cover artwork exclusive to A24. The sources checked do not state its price or shipping terms, so check those at the time of purchase.
Choosing how to watch
The main choice is between streaming through a subscription, renting or buying through a digital storefront, and owning a disc. The table below separates what the sources confirm from what you must check yourself.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsRank #3
| Option | Access type | Established by the sources | Not established by the sources |
|---|---|---|---|
| Max (now HBO Max) | Subscription streaming | Exclusive streaming debut on February 7, 2025, per Warner Bros. Discovery’s January 14, 2025 announcement | Whether the film is currently in the catalog in your country |
| Apple TV | Digital storefront | Listed on Apple TV as a 2024 drama and romance, 1 hour 47 minutes | Rental versus purchase terms, and prices |
| Amazon, Google Play, YouTube, Fandango at Home | Digital storefront | Listed as watch options on A24’s film page | Rental versus purchase terms, and prices: not stated |
| A24 Shop Blu-ray | Physical disc | Sold with A24-exclusive cover artwork | Price and shipping: not stated |
A practical order of checks:
- If you already subscribe to the service that carries the film in your country, check whether it is in the catalog there.
- If you do not, open one of the storefronts listed above and compare the rental and purchase terms shown on the listing.
- If you want to keep a copy outside any storefront, buy the Blu-ray from A24 and compare its price with the digital purchase price.
About the film
A24 identifies We Live in Time as a 2024 film directed by John Crowley and starring Andrew Garfield and Florence Pugh. Its synopsis follows Almut and Tobias from a chance encounter through their relationship and family life, as a difficult truth tests their future. It is a scripted drama, not a documentary, so it is best found through standard film and streaming catalogs.
The watch options above describe availability at the time of checking. Verify them on the platform itself before you buy, rent, or subscribe.
