The celebration covered here took place on December 31, 2024, and welcomed January 1, 2025. Event pages often call it “New Year’s Eve 2025” because that is the year being welcomed. The best places to start looking for official footage are the Sydney New Year’s Eve livestream page and the official Times Square event page. Both are useful reference points, although an old live player may now be replaced by a replay, a later-year event page, or no longer be available.
This guide separates official event streams and organizers from broadcaster coverage and third-party compilations. It follows the celebrations broadly from Australia and Asia through Europe and North America, highlighting what each event actually offered—not just labeling every countdown a fireworks show.
What “2025 New Year’s Eve” means in these archives
The wording is easy to misread. The fireworks began on the evening of December 31, 2024, in each city’s local time. The midnight moment welcomed January 1, 2025. Times Square’s official listing, for example, labels the event “New Year’s Eve 2025,” while its event date is December 31, 2024.
When searching for a replay, use both forms of the date:

Start with these official or authoritative viewing sources
1. Sydney: the clearest official international livestream option
Sydney New Year’s Eve’s official livestream page was designed for viewers anywhere in the world. The program included the Welcome to Country ceremony, the 9 p.m. “Calling Country” fireworks, and the midnight fireworks spectacular. The event page warned viewers that all listed times were in Sydney time.
The official broadcast plan also identified ABC and ABC iview as viewing outlets, with the broadcast beginning at 8:45 p.m. Sydney time. For an article or viewing guide published after the event, treat the page as an official event reference and archive lead—not as a promise that the original live feed is still running.
Open the Sydney New Year’s Eve livestream page and look for a dated replay or official video links. If the live player has disappeared, search for “Sydney NYE 2025 official livestream” or “Sydney New Year’s Eve 2025 fireworks replay.”
2. Hong Kong: official tourism-board distribution
The Hong Kong Tourism Board’s December 2024 media advisory said the New Year countdown fireworks would be distributed live through the board’s official website and social channels, including Facebook and YouTube, as well as local television outlets. It also stated that the board would distribute the event internationally by satellite.
That makes Hong Kong one of the stronger official paths for finding contemporaneous footage. The advisory itself is an event notice, however, not proof that the original stream remains online. Use it to identify the official distribution route, then verify that any surviving video is dated December 31, 2024 or January 1, 2025. The Hong Kong Tourism Board advisory provides the original details.
3. Dubai: Burj Khalifa and a citywide countdown spectacle
Dubai’s Burj Khalifa celebration was a prominent part of international coverage welcoming 2025. Contemporary reporting showed the tower’s large-scale light presentation as part of the global sequence of celebrations. ABC News’ international coverage included imagery and reporting from the Burj Khalifa event, while a global countdown video placed Dubai alongside Sydney and New York.

The available research does not establish a still-accessible official Dubai replay page specifically for December 31, 2024. If you find a video on YouTube or another platform, identify the uploader and describe it as third-party footage unless the account and source are demonstrably official. Do not assume that a spectacular Burj Khalifa video uploaded for a later year documents the 2024-to-2025 celebration.
Europe’s midnight shows
4. London: fireworks, music, lighting, and hologauze animation
London delivered one of the most elaborate documented productions in the roundup. Approximately 100,000 ticketed spectators gathered along the River Thames, while millions more watched BBC coverage at home and internationally.
According to the Mayor of London’s event recap, the show lasted about 12 minutes and used more than 12,000 fireworks and 420 lights. It combined pyrotechnics with music, lighting, and animation rather than presenting fireworks in isolation.
The production also looked back at major moments from 2024, including the Paris Olympics and Paralympics and the 80th anniversary of D-Day. Its most distinctive technical feature was a reported world-first use of hologauze animation. That transparent projection material created a visual layer over the riverfront spectacle, giving London a stronger documentary and broadcast identity than a generic fireworks compilation.
The city’s January 2025 mayoral report also repeated the approximately 100,000-person attendance figure and emphasized the mixture of hologauze, fireworks, lighting, and music. For viewing, search BBC’s dated coverage or a clearly labeled London New Year’s Eve 2025 replay; do not substitute footage from the following New Year.

5. Paris: the Arc de Triomphe countdown
Paris is a recurring landmark in international New Year coverage. The city’s established format centers on the Champs-Élysées, with a sound-and-light presentation, a countdown, and fireworks launched from or around the Arc de Triomphe shortly after midnight.
The Paris tourism office’s New Year guide is useful for understanding that recurring format. Its current page may emphasize a later edition, so it should not be treated as sole evidence for every detail of the December 31, 2024 celebration. For a 2024-to-2025 replay, verify the date against the video itself or a contemporaneous report.

North America: Times Square and Las Vegas
6. New York City: the official Times Square webcast
The Times Square Alliance, One Times Square, and Countdown Entertainment announced a six-hour, live, commercial-free webcast for the celebration welcoming 2025. The official schedule ran from 6:00 p.m. Eastern Time on December 31, 2024, to 12:15 a.m. Eastern Time on January 1, 2025.
The program included live performances, the Ball Drop, confetti, and the surrounding Times Square celebration. The webcast was distributed through TimesSquareNYC.org and other official event sites. Broadcast-network coverage was also supplied by ABC, CNN, Telemundo, and Univision.
For accessibility, the Times Square Alliance’s webcast information documented open captions and American Sign Language interpretation. The organization’s webcast page may now be updated for a newer year, so label any embedded or linked video with its actual date: December 31, 2024, rather than implying it is a current live feed.
Times Square is not primarily a fireworks event. Its visual center is the Ball Drop, supported by performances, confetti, lighting, and a long broadcast program. That distinction matters when choosing between a city fireworks replay and a countdown-focused webcast.
7. Las Vegas: Sphere and the Strip
Las Vegas added a distinctly American West Coast finale to the sequence. The Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority reported that the city welcomed 2025 with an official countdown by Sphere, followed by a choreographed fireworks show across the Las Vegas Strip.
The Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority announcement presented the event as part of a broader global countdown linking major cities and time zones. Sphere is the defining visual hook, while the Strip-wide fireworks provide the conventional midnight spectacle.

- East Asia: Look for the Hong Kong Tourism Board’s dated website, Facebook, or YouTube distribution, checking that the footage is from the 2024-to-2025 celebration.
- Dubai: Use dated international coverage or a verified official upload for the Burj Khalifa show. Treat unidentified compilations as third-party material.

- New York: Watch the official Times Square webcast archive for the Ball Drop, performances, confetti, captions, and ASL interpretation where available.
- Las Vegas: Finish with the Sphere countdown and choreographed Strip fireworks.
The cities did not all offer the same type of program. Sydney and London are strong choices for large fireworks productions; Times Square is best for a formal countdown broadcast; Dubai and Las Vegas emphasize landmark-scale visuals; and Paris and Hong Kong are especially recognizable in global news coverage.
Official stream, broadcaster, or third-party compilation?
| Label | What it means | How to describe it |
|---|---|---|
| Official event livestream | The organizer or city directly hosted or distributed the feed. | “The event’s official livestream page offered worldwide viewing.” |
| Official broadcaster | A television or streaming broadcaster carried the event under its own rights or coverage arrangement. | “BBC coverage showed London’s celebration.” |
| Municipal or tourism-board distribution | A city authority or tourism organization announced online and satellite distribution. | “The Hong Kong Tourism Board planned distribution through its website and social channels.” |
| Third-party compilation | A news outlet, creator, or channel assembled footage from multiple cities. | “This dated compilation includes segments from several celebrations.” |
These categories should not be treated as interchangeable. A video with an official-looking title may be an unofficial restream, and a broadcaster’s segment may contain licensed excerpts rather than the complete city feed. The specific YouTube world-countdown video identified in the research described a sequence involving Sydney, Dubai, and New York, with other city segments such as Moscow and Paris. Unless the uploader’s rights and identity are clear, present it as an archived third-party compilation.

Check the date before pressing play
Search results often prioritize the newest New Year. Confirm the year welcomed by the event, the upload date, the location, and whether the video is a live recording, edited highlight reel, or rebroadcast.
Expect regional availability to change
Past livestream URLs may be removed, replaced by a later-year page, blocked in some countries, or left online without the original live chat and schedule. Do not promise that an old stream remains live, uninterrupted, commercial-free, or available worldwide. Those conditions applied to particular event announcements at the time and may not apply to an archive.
Use the city’s local schedule for exact conversions
Time-zone differences make Sydney’s 9 p.m. preliminary fireworks especially easy to mislabel. Use the event’s published local time before converting it to your own location. The official Sydney page explicitly identified its schedule as Sydney time; do not casually describe the 9 p.m. show as midnight fireworks.
Make a laptop or phone easier to watch on
Watch the replays on a TV streaming device if you want a larger screen than a phone or laptop. If the video plays in a browser, a simple HDMI cable can connect a laptop to a television. For mobile viewing while traveling, an optional phone tripod or adjustable stand keeps the screen hands-free.
These accessories solve viewing problems; they are not required to access the event pages. A current browser, stable connection, and working audio are usually more important than specialized equipment.
Where the research is strongest—and where it is not
The strongest documentation comes from event organizers, municipal authorities, tourism boards, broadcasters, and the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority. Sydney and Times Square have particularly clear official event pathways. London has the most detailed official post-event account, including attendance, duration, fireworks quantity, lighting, and hologauze details.

Dubai is well established as a major part of international coverage, but the research did not locate a still-accessible official replay page for the specific December 31, 2024 event. Paris’s official tourism material confirms the recurring Arc de Triomphe and Champs-Élysées format, but later editions should not be silently used to fill in details about 2024-to-2025. Hong Kong’s advisory documents the official distribution plan, while the survival of the original stream must be checked separately.
Likewise, an Associated Press report about a 22-hour uninterrupted New Year’s Eve video stream belongs to the 2025-to-2026 celebration, not the event covered here. It demonstrates the broader trend toward time-zone-spanning coverage, but it is not evidence that the same production existed on December 31, 2024.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is this the New Year’s Eve celebration from December 31, 2024?
Yes. This guide covers the celebrations that began on December 31, 2024 and welcomed January 1, 2025. Some official pages call them “New Year’s Eve 2025” because 2025 was the year being welcomed.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsWhich official stream is the best place to start?
Start with Sydney’s official New Year’s Eve livestream page or the Times Square Alliance’s official webcast information. Sydney offered worldwide viewing with a preliminary 9 p.m. fireworks show and a midnight spectacular; Times Square offered a six-hour webcast centered on the Ball Drop and live performances.
Can I still watch the original livestreams?
Possibly, but availability is not guaranteed. Old event pages may redirect to later years, lose their video player, become region-restricted, or be removed. Look for dated replays on the organizer’s website, official YouTube channel, broadcaster archive, or tourism-board social accounts.
Was the Times Square event a fireworks show?
Not primarily. Times Square centered on the Ball Drop, performances, confetti, lighting, and broadcast programming. It is better described as a countdown webcast than as a conventional fireworks show.
What made London’s 2025 countdown distinctive?
London’s production combined fireworks, music, lighting, and animation. The official recap reported approximately 100,000 ticketed spectators, more than 12,000 fireworks, 420 lights, a 12-minute show, references to major 2024 events, and a reported world-first use of hologauze animation.
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Are third-party world-countdown videos official?
Not necessarily. A compilation may combine clips from several cities without being produced or authorized by any of the event organizers. Identify the uploader and label the video accurately unless its official status is clear.
The Bottom Line
For the most reliable 2024-to-2025 archive hunt, begin with Sydney and Times Square, then use London’s official recap and dated broadcaster coverage to fill out the European sequence. Add Hong Kong, Dubai, Paris, and Las Vegas only after checking that each video actually documents December 31, 2024 into January 1, 2025. Treat vanished livestreams and unidentified compilations cautiously: a page can be useful evidence of the original broadcast plan without still being a working live feed.
