The 2014 Rolling Stone feature describes its songs as less familiar to many viewers than the hits Prince played at the 2007 Super Bowl halftime show.
What makes this performance notable?
The set offers a different way to encounter Prince than a run through his best-known hits: Rolling Stone framed the medley’s tracks as less familiar to many viewers than the Super Bowl material. That contrast makes the performance especially appealing to listeners who want to see another side of his live repertoire.
