Lando Norris was not driving when a Ferrari F40 associated with him spun and hit a roadside barrier near Monaco in early January 2025, according to contemporary reports. The video shows the car losing control, but neither the footage nor the reports identify the driver or establish what caused the crash.
What does the video show?
Footage circulated in January 2025 shows the red F40 losing control, spinning and striking a roadside barrier. Reports described visible damage around the rear of the car. The clip records the incident, but it does not establish the driver’s identity or explain why the car spun.
Monaco Tribune’s report and Top Gear’s coverage both said Norris was not behind the wheel. Neither identified who was driving.
Where and when did the crash happen?
Monaco Tribune placed the crash on Avenue d’Agerbol in Roquebrune-Cap-Martin, France, as the car traveled from Monaco toward the Maybourne Riviera. The incident happened in early January 2025; the cited reports do not establish an exact day.

Was Lando Norris driving his Ferrari F40?
No, according to the contemporary reporting. Monaco Tribune said Norris was away in Dubai for New Year and was not driving. In a later update published May 25, 2025, Motorsport.com reported that Norris had lent the car to a friend whose identity he chose not to disclose. The driver has not been identified in these reports.
Were there injuries or other vehicles involved?
Monaco Tribune reported that no one was injured and no other vehicles were damaged. The available coverage does not describe a separate vehicle being involved in the crash.

What happened to the F40 afterward?
In May 2025, Motorsport.com reported that Norris had been asked whether the car was back to normal and replied, “No [it is not back to normal].” The outlet attributed the exchange to The Sun, so this is a secondary report of Norris’s remarks rather than a direct interview source.
On September 17, 2026, Motorsport.com reported that Norris was seen driving the F40 in London, describing the sighting as confirmation that the car had returned to the road. That does not establish exactly what repairs were made or that it was restored to its pre-crash condition.

Why did the Ferrari F40 crash?
The reports and video summarized here do not establish a cause. Some coverage has speculated about the car’s characteristics, but there is no verified investigation finding or driver account in these sources that attributes the spin to turbo lag or any other specific factor.

Motorsport.com reported that Ferrari produced 1,311 F40s from 1987 to 1992. That production figure is the outlet’s reporting, not an independently verified Ferrari record. Top Gear described production as a little over 1,300.
