Fan-shot footage from the show circulated after his death, and contemporary coverage reports that it shows him playing “Deuce” and “New York Groove.” The setlist record for the show lists both songs. The footage itself has not been independently verified here, so treat the description of its contents as reported rather than confirmed.
The date and venue
Rolling Stone Australia’s report by Andy Greene, published October 17, 2025, identifies the show as taking place on September 5, 2025, at Providence’s Uptown Theater. That report is the main source for the headline details. A Live Nation artist page also features a setlist for the Providence show and describes it as Frehley’s last performance before his death on October 16, 2025. That listing is a secondary, third-party page, not an official statement from Frehley’s team.
The songs reported in the set
Both songs appear in the reported setlist:
- “Deuce”, listed first on the setlist.
- “New York Groove”, listed eighth.
The setlist.fm entry for the show is a user-contributed record. It includes a note that “Deuce” and “Shock Me” were played in the reverse order from the printed setlist. Use that note as a record of what was reported, not as an audio analysis of the performance. If you need the exact running order, the fan footage is the only way to check it, and that footage has not been verified here.
What the fan footage is and isn’t confirmed to show
Rolling Stone’s report describes the circulating material as fan-shot footage. The reporting does not establish who uploaded it, where it was first posted, or whether it captures the full performance of both songs. Before relying on a clip as proof of a specific moment, check three things:

- Confirm the date and venue shown in the video’s description or the uploader’s notes match September 5, 2025, at the Uptown Theater.
- Check that the clip’s audio and visuals show Frehley performing the songs in question, not a different artist’s cover or a tribute act.
- Note whether the upload is a partial clip. A short excerpt can confirm that a song was played without showing the full set.
If you embed or quote a clip in your own writing, attribute the uploader and link to the original post rather than a repost.
About “New York Groove”
“New York Groove” was written by Russ Ballard. Frehley’s recording of the song appeared on his 1978 solo album, Ace Frehley, and that is the version reported as the basis for his later live performances of it. The album is the most direct listening follow-up to the Providence set. Current physical and digital edition availability was not confirmed for this article, so check a retailer or streaming service before buying. The album does not contain the September 2025 performance.

What is established and what is not

- Not established here: the original upload source, whether the footage covers both songs in full, and the exact running order beyond the setlist note.
Frehley’s death on October 16, 2025, came about six weeks after the Providence show, and coverage of the show has been shaped by that timing. The reporting does not claim the show was planned as a farewell.
