WASO’s 2025 regional appearances included February performances of The Lark Ascending and Mozart’s Masterpieces in Bunbury and Mandurah. The orchestra’s July announcement confirms both works and towns, but does not give the February dates, say which work was played at which venue, or publish the complete programmes. Later in the year, WASO returned to Bunbury with two distinct events: Passion and Power in August and Brass & Beats in October and November.
What WASO performed in Bunbury and Mandurah in February
WASO’s 10 July 2025 announcement retrospectively names The Lark Ascending and Mozart’s Masterpieces as works performed in Bunbury and Mandurah during February. It does not specify the exact February performance dates or identify which title corresponded to Bunbury Regional Entertainment Centre (BREC) and which to Mandurah Performing Arts Centre. Nor does it provide full programmes, so the two titles should not be treated as complete set lists. WASO’s 2025 regional touring announcement is the source for this retrospective summary.
WASO’s April 2025 publication also names both BREC and Mandurah Performing Arts Centre among its 2025 performance venues, but does not fill in the missing February schedule details. WASO’s April 2025 issue, “New Spaces, New Sounds” provides that broader venue context.
Later Bunbury concerts were separate events
The February appearances were not the same concert as either of WASO’s later 2025 Bunbury events. WASO’s July announcement lists Passion and Power for 24 August and Brass & Beats for 31 October and 1 November.

Passion and Power — 24 August 2025
Scheduled for Sunday 24 August at 5 pm at BREC, Passion and Power was conducted by Asher Fisch, with violinist Simone Lamsma. Its programme included Strauss’ Macbeth, Bruch’s First Violin Concerto and Schumann’s Symphony No. 4. WASO said Fisch appeared courtesy of Wesfarmers Arts. BREC Executive Director Fiona de Garis described access to orchestral performances of this calibre as enriching “the cultural fabric of the region.” WASO’s announcement gives the event details and quotation.
Brass & Beats — 31 October and 1 November 2025
WASO listed Bunbury performances of Brass & Beats for Friday 31 October at 7 pm and Saturday 1 November at 2 pm. The programme brought together tangos and jazz with selections from Prokofiev’s Romeo and Juliet and John Williams’ Star Wars. BREC independently confirms the Friday 31 October, 7 pm session in its venue listing for Brass & Beats.

BREC’s listing described that performance as two hours including interval and showed a historical ticket price of $50 plus a $3.50 booking fee. Those figures belong to the past event listing; they are not current ticket offers. The ensemble’s brass-and-percussion focus also distinguishes Brass & Beats from the February titles and the full-orchestra programme described for Passion and Power.

WASO characterized its regional programme as extending beyond ticketed mainstage performances. The announcement also describes free daytime performances and workshops for schools, community centres and local music groups. WASO Director of Programming and Engagement Evan Kennea said the tours aimed to connect with people of all ages, inspire young musicians and bring live orchestral music into community settings. The announcement does not give a detailed schedule or list of participating local groups for those activities.
