The claim that Catherine, Princess of Wales (Kate Middleton), was receiving cancer treatment at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston was denied by a Kensington Palace representative, the Houston Chronicle reported in June 2024. MD Anderson declined to comment on whether any particular person was a patient, citing privacy. Those dated statements address the Houston rumor; they do not establish Catherine’s private medical status today.
What was said about treatment in Texas?
In June 2024, social-media posts claimed Catherine was in Houston for cancer treatment at MD Anderson Cancer Center. The Houston Chronicle reported that a Kensington Palace representative said the rumor was false. That is the direct reported denial of the Texas claim.
The hospital did not confirm or deny that Catherine was a patient. The Chronicle reported that MD Anderson representatives would not comment on any particular individual’s patient status because of medical privacy. That response is neither confirmation nor a separate denial.
Where did the rumor come from?
The allegation circulated online, including an unverified Reddit anecdote about a stay at the St. Regis Houston that was amplified in a viral TikTok, according to Town & Country. The hotel story was not verified evidence of a visit or treatment.

What has Catherine publicly said about her cancer care?
March 2024: cancer and preventive chemotherapy disclosed
In a video statement in March 2024, Catherine said that surgery in London had been planned for a non-cancerous condition, but post-operative tests found cancer had been present. She said her medical team advised a course of preventive chemotherapy and that she was in its early stages, as reported by the Associated Press. The Palace also said it would not share further private medical information and that the Princess had a right to medical privacy.
September 2024: chemotherapy completed
Catherine said she had completed chemotherapy in a September 2024 video message. As quoted in ABC News’s timeline, she said: “As the summer comes to an end, I cannot tell you what a relief it is to have finally completed my chemotherapy treatment.” She also said her path to healing and full recovery continued.

January 2025: remission update
In January 2025, Catherine said her cancer was in remission and that she remained focused on recovery. ABC News reported that she visited the Royal Marsden and that Kensington Palace identified it as the hospital where she had been treated. These were public updates at that time, not disclosures of her current care.

- Established about the Texas rumor: A Kensington Palace representative denied it, according to the Houston Chronicle’s June 2024 report.
- Established about the hospital’s response: MD Anderson declined to discuss an individual’s patient status on privacy grounds.
- Established about Catherine’s public disclosures: She announced cancer and preventive chemotherapy in March 2024, said she had completed chemotherapy in September 2024, and reported remission in January 2025.
- Not established: These statements do not reveal her medical status or treatment, if any, after the January 2025 update. They also do not establish a cancer type, treatment regimen, or current care location.
The Texas rumor should not be used to cast doubt on Catherine’s separate, public statements about her diagnosis and chemotherapy. Conversely, those statements do not verify the online Houston or hotel claims.
