Julie Chrisley was reported pardoned and released in May 2025, according to E! News. That is later than the February 2024 story behind the headline, which reported attorney Alex Little’s prediction that resentencing could substantially reduce her prison term. His prediction was not a court order or a guarantee of early release.
What the 2024 early-release claim meant
On February 14, 2024, Yahoo Entertainment republished People reporting that attorney Alex Little thought Julie Chrisley might be resentenced in the summer or fall of the following year and predicted her prison term should be substantially reduced. A three-year sentence was discussed as a hypothetical that could let her return home sooner; it was not a sentence a judge had imposed. The article said she was then serving a seven-year sentence that had already been reduced by 14 months, and gave October 19, 2028 as her scheduled release date at that time. Those figures and the date describe the February 2024 report, not her current status. Yahoo Entertainment / People
The story also mentioned the First Step Act as a possible consideration, while acknowledging uncertainty about how a judge might apply it. It did not establish that the Act guaranteed a reduction or release by a particular date.
What the appeals court decided
On June 21, 2024, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit affirmed Julie and Todd Chrisley’s convictions but vacated Julie’s sentence. The court found that the district court had included losses from 2006 without identifying evidence that Julie was involved in the conspiracy that year. It sent the case back for factual findings and calculations supporting loss, restitution and forfeiture, followed by resentencing. The court stated: “So we vacate Julie’s sentence and remand for the district court to make factual findings and calculations supporting the loss, restitution, and forfeiture amounts.” Eleventh Circuit, United States v. Chrisley, No. 22-14074

That ruling addressed sentencing calculations. It did not overturn the convictions, order a new trial or direct Julie’s immediate release.

E! News reported that Julie and Todd Chrisley were pardoned and released in May 2025. This later reported status supersedes the October 19, 2028 date published in February 2024. The May 2025 update is attributed here to E! News; the report is not an official pardon instrument. E! News

In short, the 2024 headline described counsel’s view of a possible future sentence reduction. The appeals court later ordered sentencing recalculations, not release; the subsequent report of a May 2025 pardon and release is a separate development.
