Greg Cipes alleged that Warner Bros. fired him from voicing Beast Boy on Teen Titans Go! after he publicly shared his Parkinson’s diagnosis. But unnamed sources close to production gave TheWrap and The Independent a different explanation, describing the role change as a performance or creative decision. The published accounts do not establish which explanation is correct, and neither includes an on-record statement from Warner Bros.
Was Greg Cipes fired from Teen Titans Go!?
Cipes said he was. In a comment reported by TheWrap on September 7, 2025, he wrote: “Warner Bros. literally fired me on Valentine’s Day right after I publicly shared my Parkinson’s diagnosis. It’s like a death to me that only the fans can bring back to life.” TheWrap said he made the comment on a post shared by DC influencer Emmanuel Devon Newsome.

That statement is Cipes’s allegation, not an independently established account of why the role changed. The next day, The Independent also reported his claim and described a conflicting account from an unnamed source close to production.
Why was Greg Cipes replaced as Beast Boy?
The two published accounts offer different explanations. Cipes linked his removal to his diagnosis; anonymous sources close to production characterized the change as relating to performance or creative concerns. The reports do not provide evidence that resolves the disagreement.

| Cipes’s account | Greg Cipes, quoted by TheWrap; his allegation was also reported by The Independent | He said Warner Bros. fired him after he publicly shared his Parkinson’s diagnosis. | The outlets report that he made the claim. The reports do not independently verify that the diagnosis caused the decision. |
| Production-side account | Unnamed sources described by TheWrap and The Independent as close to the situation or production | The change was characterized as based on performance or creative concerns, rather than his diagnosis. | The account is anonymous, not an on-record Warner Bros. explanation. Neither report establishes it as the verified reason. |
TheWrap’s September 7 report said producers approached Cipes about stepping down from Beast Boy because of performance issues. It also reported that they offered to create a new character for him and that discussions with his agent about a development deal had begun. According to that unnamed source, Cipes had recorded a couple of scripts for the proposed character, while the deal was still being negotiated at the time of publication.
The Independent’s September 8 report likewise described an unnamed source disputing the diagnosis-based explanation and characterizing the recasting as a creative decision. It also reported an offer of another role and a development deal, and said it contacted Cipes for comment. These are reports of what an anonymous source said; they should not be treated as an official studio statement.
Was Greg Cipes fired because of Parkinson’s?
The available reports do not answer that question conclusively. Cipes’s statement directly connects the firing he alleges with the timing of his public diagnosis. Anonymous production-side sources offered a different explanation. Neither report includes a named, on-record statement from a Warner Bros. representative or a production decision-maker, and the coverage does not independently verify either account as the definitive reason.
