What the showrunner said about Season 16
Andrew Dabb, who ran the show for Seasons 12 through 15, was asked in a July 2025 interview with TV Insider whether there was a plan for a sixteenth season. His answer:

“Season 16, in terms of a plan, no, long story short, and I say that only because Jared and Jensen had kind of made it very well known that 15 was the last, we planned for that.”
Dabb’s account is that Warner Bros. and The CW would have liked to continue, but Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles wanted to move on. Because the lead actors had made clear that Season 15 would end the series, the writers built the final season around that ending. This describes the plan at the time the original run finished. It is not a statement that a future return could never happen.

Dabb did discuss a possible return, but he framed it as hypothetical in two ways.
A six-episode revival idea
He floated the idea of a streamer asking the leads to come back for a short run, around six episodes. He then said he did not think the market at that time supported such a project. A hypothetical pitch is not a negotiation, an order, or a green light.
A possible opening, with no set story
He also described a rough opening in which Sam and Dean wake up and Jack asks them for help. He stressed that this was only a setup and that he did not know where such a story would go. Treat it as a fan-friendly thought experiment, not a confirmed plot, cast commitment, or premiere window.

Revival rumors on social media often blend cast comments, fan wishlists, and old interviews. Use this checklist before accepting a claim:
- Check whether the source is a named official, such as Warner Bros., The CW, or the production company, rather than an anonymous account or a fan forum.
- Confirm the date. A 2025 interview describing a past plan is not news about a 2026 project.
- Look for a concrete detail: a studio or network press release, a named production company, a cast contract, or a named broadcast or streaming platform. Hypothetical language such as “if,” “might,” or “someday” is not an announcement.
- Check whether a trade publication or the network has repeated the report. A single headline that cites no primary source is weak evidence.
Watching the existing series
If you want to revisit the completed story while waiting for any official news, two routes are established:
- Streaming: Peacock promotes all 15 seasons. Its catalog varies by country and changes over time, so check whether the series appears in your region before subscribing.
- Physical media: Warner Bros. Japan lists a four-disc Blu-ray complete box for Supernatural XV, with a release date of May 26, 2021. That listing is for the Japan market. Before buying any disc, confirm its region code, language options, and whether your player supports that region.
