1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsNeither Vultr nor Hetzner is a documented universal winner for a continuous 4K60 YouTube loop. If your server only relays an already encoded video, compare the exact server and location’s price, outbound-traffic allowance and excess charges, then test the route to YouTube. If the server must render or encode the video, its compute and hardware-encoding needs change substantially; the available provider documentation does not establish a safe, specific server configuration for that job.
First decide what the server has to do
Relay an already encoded stream
A relay forwards a stream that has already been encoded to the required format and bitrate. The main hosting questions are outbound traffic, the server’s network path to YouTube’s ingest, and whether the connection remains healthy during a sustained run. A high-resolution stream can use substantial transfer even when the server is not doing the encoding.
Render or encode on the server
If the machine has to decode source footage, render a sequence, or encode the outgoing 4K60 stream, it also needs sufficient compute and possibly hardware-encoding support. Vultr’s Broadcaster documentation describes a remotely accessible OBS deployment with GPU integration, but that description does not establish that a particular plan reliably encodes 4K60. The available Hetzner material likewise does not identify an exact configuration suitable for that workload. Do not select a machine for encoding based on traffic allowance alone.
What YouTube requires for the stream
YouTube’s settings page, retrieved in 2026, supports H.264, H.265 and AV1 over RTMP or RTMPS, frame rates up to 60 fps, and constant bitrate (CBR). For 2160p at 60 fps, its H.264 column recommends 35 Mbps; the AV1 and H.265 columns list a 10 Mbps minimum and 40 Mbps maximum. Use the guidance for your chosen codec rather than treating those figures as interchangeable targets.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
- Bitrate: Set and check the bitrate for the codec you use. A continuously running stream’s transfer depends on its actual bitrate and uptime.
- Keyframes: Use a two-second keyframe interval; YouTube says not to exceed four seconds.
- Protocol: Use RTMP or RTMPS, as supported by YouTube’s settings guidance and your streaming software.
- Latency: For 4K, YouTube’s low-latency option is unavailable; 4K streams use normal latency.
- Testing and monitoring: YouTube transcodes live streams into multiple output formats. Test before going live and monitor stream health during operation; a successful connection at startup alone does not establish that a long-running stream is stable.
How much outbound traffic a 4K60 loop can use
At a constant 35 Mbps, a 30-day stream sends approximately 11.34 decimal TB, calculated as 35,000,000 bits per second × 2,592,000 seconds ÷ 8 ÷ 1,000,000,000,000. This is an arithmetic estimate based on YouTube’s H.264 recommendation, not a provider-published traffic figure. Actual transfer varies with selected bitrate, audio, protocol overhead and uptime, so use your configured bitrate and expected runtime when estimating costs.
For a different constant bitrate, use this estimate:

decimal TB ≈ bitrate in Mbps × seconds streamed ÷ 8,000,000
For example, insert your planned bitrate and the seconds in your billing period. Then compare the result with the allowance and excess policy for the exact server family and region—not a provider-wide headline figure.

Vultr and Hetzner: what the documented facts establish
| Question | Vultr | Hetzner |
|---|---|---|
| Documented streaming path | Official Broadcaster documentation describes a remotely accessible OBS implementation with GPU integration and a marketplace deployment workflow. It does not prove that a particular plan can reliably encode 4K60. | The available documentation does not establish a particular OBS or 4K60 encoding configuration. |
| Traffic accounting | Outbound data transfer from cloud resources counts toward bandwidth usage; inbound data is not metered against its limits. Check the selected plan’s allowance and current excess terms. | Hetzner documents 20 TB of traffic for EU CX, CPX and CAX cloud servers. US and Singapore allowances vary by plan. Confirm the exact family, location and current excess policy. |
| Public internet access | Confirm the selected instance’s network and transfer details for its region before purchase. | The cloud overview says servers need a Primary IP to connect to the public internet. |
| Comparable current price and guaranteed route performance | Not established for an exact plan and location in the available documentation. | Not established for an exact plan and location in the available documentation. |
The 20 TB figure applies to the documented Hetzner EU CX, CPX and CAX families; it should not be generalized to US or Singapore servers, or to every Hetzner product. Likewise, Vultr’s Broadcaster workflow is evidence of a documented deployment path, not evidence that Vultr is faster, cheaper or more reliable than Hetzner for your particular stream.
How to choose and verify a server
- Choose the workload. Record whether the machine only relays an encoded file or must decode, render and encode it. Treat encoding as a separate hardware-sizing problem.
- Choose the likely region. Compare locations you can actually use and account for the route from that location to YouTube’s ingest. Provider documentation here does not establish end-to-end throughput or stability for a particular route.
- Check the exact server and billing terms. For Vultr, check outbound bandwidth accounting and current plan terms. For Hetzner, check the precise server family and location, its included traffic and any current excess policy. Include the server price, storage and any other required resources in your own cost comparison; no comparable current plan prices are established here.
- Estimate traffic from your settings. Multiply your planned constant bitrate by expected uptime using the estimate above. Compare it with the allowance for that exact plan, leaving room for audio, protocol overhead and downtime/restarts that extend transfer.
- Configure and test the stream. Set the supported codec, RTMP or RTMPS, CBR, bitrate and keyframe interval in your streaming software. Run a representative test with the intended video and audio, then watch YouTube’s stream-health indicators during a sustained run.
- Recheck before committing long term. Prices, plan details and traffic terms can change. Confirm them for the selected location and instance at purchase, and observe actual usage and stream health after launch.
When StreamNeo may fit better than managing a server
If your goal is to keep uploaded videos looping on a YouTube channel, rather than to rent and administer a virtual machine, StreamNeo is a cloud alternative: upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. It plays uploaded videos, not a live camera feed, and is for YouTube.

Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Common problems and what to check
- Transfer use exceeds the estimate: Check the actual outgoing bitrate and uptime, then account for audio and protocol overhead. Recalculate against the exact region’s included traffic and excess terms.
- YouTube reports poor stream health: Check the configured bitrate, CBR setting, keyframe interval and network path. Test with representative content and monitor a sustained run rather than relying on a short startup test.
- The stream connects, but 4K60 encoding cannot keep up: Confirm whether the machine is encoding rather than relaying. A successful OBS deployment or GPU integration does not establish adequate capacity on every instance; the available documentation does not specify a guaranteed configuration.
- A Hetzner server cannot reach the public internet: Verify that it has the Primary IP required by Hetzner’s cloud overview.
- A deployment guide does not match your server: Vultr’s Broadcaster material documents an OBS-based marketplace workflow, not a guarantee for every plan or an equivalent Hetzner configuration. Verify the selected image, instance and region before relying on the guide.
Copyright and YouTube policy checks for a video loop
Hosting a loop does not grant rights to the video, music or other material in it. Before streaming, confirm that you have the necessary rights for every component and review YouTube’s current live-streaming rules and channel requirements. Also assess whether a repetitive or reused program meets the rules that apply to your channel and any monetization you seek; continuous availability by itself does not establish eligibility. The technical provider documentation does not determine whether content is authorized or eligible.
