Vanderpump Rules returned for Season 12 with a new central cast of ten SUR employees, while Lisa Vanderpump stayed on as the show’s boss and mentor. Bravo announced the reset in November 2024, then revealed the cast and premiere details in November 2025. The phrase “scraps the entire cast” is shorthand: the previous ensemble was replaced, but Vanderpump remains.
What changed in Vanderpump Rules Season 12?
Season 12 shifts the show’s focus back to the people working at SUR, Lisa Vanderpump’s West Hollywood restaurant. The new ensemble is made up of ten employees whose stories involve workplace relationships, friendships, romance and career ambitions. Bravo described the group as a “deep-rooted, dynamic group of friends, frenemies, and lovers” working at SUR.
Lisa Vanderpump is the link between the earlier seasons and the reboot. She returns as the central boss and mentor figure; it is the former cast’s place as the show’s central group that has been reset.

These details describe Bravo’s cast introductions and season framing, rather than independently verified biographies.
Why did Vanderpump Rules get a new cast?
Bravo and the show’s producers framed the reset as a return to the series’ restaurant-work foundation. In Bravo’s account of a conversation between Lisa Vanderpump and executive producer Alex Baskin, Baskin said the series “wasn’t grounded in what it originally had been” as cast members left SUR and pursued other careers. Vanderpump described the original cast as open and authentic, but said their lives had moved in a different direction. Those are the star’s and producer’s explanations for the change.

In a November 2025 Bravo preview, Baskin said the new season was “getting back to sort of the foundational principles of the show.” He described a group that worked at the restaurant and were best friends living together during a fun phase of life. Bravo’s November 2024 announcement had already characterized the new employees as “a new group of close-knit SUR-vers who are as complicatedly involved with one another as their iconic predecessors.”
Vanderpump also explained her view of ending the former ensemble’s run: “I felt that we told the story, and we always said together that we didn’t want to go down on a sinking ship.” Andy Cohen, discussing the casting decision in Bravo’s November 2025 preview, said, “This is the absolute right thing to do.” These comments convey the people involved’s perspective; they do not establish a single independently verified cause for the reset.

When does Vanderpump Rules Season 12 start, and where can you watch it?
Bravo scheduled the Season 12 premiere for Tuesday, December 2, 2025, at 9 p.m. ET/PT on Bravo. The network said episodes would be available on Peacock the following day. Peacock’s catalog currently lists Season 12 episodes, though streaming catalogs and availability can change. Bravo also scheduled the retrospective special Raise Your Glass to 11 Seasons for November 25, 2025.
The timeline began a year earlier: Bravo announced the twelfth season and its new SUR staff cast on November 26, 2024, with production planned for 2025. On November 3, 2025, Bravo named the ten newcomers and announced the premiere details. NBCUniversal’s later programming slate also described the season as following a new cast working at Vanderpump’s restaurant.
