| Osy Ikhile | Nate Packer | Returns as Nate, introduced as an intern in the original episode. |

These actor-character pairings are listed in Netflix Tudum’s Season 7 cast guide, published April 14, 2025.
Is Jesse Plemons in the sequel?
Yes. Netflix’s April 17, 2025 episode explainer identifies Jesse Plemons as Robert Daly. The sequel’s real-world story establishes that Daly is dead, so his inclusion should not be read as a conventional return by a living character. Netflix’s episode explainer discusses his status.

How the sequel connects to “USS Callister”
“USS Callister” was the Season 4 opener. Netflix describes it as a story about a video-game programmer who creates a sinister simulated reality, casting himself as a spacecraft captain and co-workers as his crew. “Into Infinity” continues the story, but the crew’s new reality changes the stakes: they can die. That premise is the relevant context for the returning characters; the cast guide does not establish a complete list of everyone who appears.
Netflix calls the episode a sequel to the Emmy-winning Season 4 story in its Season 7 coverage guide.
