Confirm the distributor’s current listing before making plans; dates and territory-specific availability can change.

What happened in May 2026
May’s schedule is now recent history, not an upcoming watchlist. The Associated Press’s summer movie guide, published April 27, 2026, included theatrical releases such as The Devil Wears Prada 2 on May 1, Mortal Kombat II and The Sheep Detectives on May 8, and The Mandalorian and Grogu on May 22. How to use a release calendar
- Check where it will play. A date by itself does not tell you whether a film opens in theaters, streams, or arrives on demand. The studio listings above do not specify distribution mode for every title.
- Check your territory. A U.S. date may not match release timing elsewhere, and a title’s streaming window can vary by region.
- Look for a current distributor listing. Compiled calendars can include a broader mix of theater, VOD and streaming dates; Metacritic says its release calendar is updated daily. Metacritic’s release calendar.
- Treat scheduled dates as provisional. Studios can change plans, and a slate announcement is not a guarantee that a release will happen on that date.
This is a schedule-based watchlist, not a verdict on which unreleased film will be best. The titles are included because the cited studios have listed them, and the available information supports only the specific details noted above.
