Universo Spanta announced Mais55 as a first-edition gathering for Brazilian music-industry professionals, scheduled for January 24–26, 2024, at Marina da Glória in Rio de Janeiro. The published plans paired conversations about funk, bossa nova and sertanejo with practical sessions on copyright, promotion, technology and music marketing. These are historical announcements for the 2024 edition, not confirmation of a later event.
What Mais55 was announced to be
In its January 8, 2024, announcement, POPLine described Mais55 as a new fair or gathering intended to bring together professionals from Brazil’s music industry. Its stated purpose was to discuss the market and consider how Brazilian music could be promoted at home and abroad. The event was associated with Universo Spanta 2024, a music festival in Rio de Janeiro.
The announced dates were January 24, 25 and 26, 2024, at Marina da Glória. The announcement framed the program as a meeting point between discussions of musical genres and practical questions about the business of making and circulating music.
What the published program covered
Mundo da Música’s January 18 program report listed sessions for January 25 and 26. It described a program that combined genre and cultural-export conversations with subjects such as rights, technology and marketing. The report is evidence of what was published as the program; it does not independently confirm that every listed session or speaker took place.

Why the organizers said the gathering mattered
Diogo Castelão, identified by Mundo da Música as the idealizer of Universo Spanta and Mais55, presented the gathering as part of an effort to make Universo Spanta a platform for promoting Brazilian music, not only a venue for shows. He argued that stronger international reach requires investment in new talent, promotion, knowledge and tools.

“Brazilian music is a very relevant cultural and economic asset for our country, but we still do not give this industry the attention it needs and deserves. In 2024, in addition to once again presenting shows by major names in Brazilian music, we want to be seen as a platform for promoting Brazilian music. For us to continue exporting our culture and being one of the main protagonists in global music, investment in new talent, promotion, knowledge, and tools is essential for better entry into the global market.”
This is an English translation of Castelão’s Portuguese statement as published by Mundo da Música. It expresses the organizer’s rationale, not an independent assessment of the industry or a measured outcome of the event.

What the reports establish—and what they do not
Contemporaneous coverage said the gathering was open to the public and that tickets were available through Sympla; it also identified Petrobras as master sponsor. Those details concern the 2024 edition only. The available reports do not establish attendance, results, later editions or current ticket availability, so Mais55 should be understood as a historical event announcement rather than an ongoing program.
