In the 2024 Ultimate Spider-Man, the Richard Parker associated with Venom is Richard Parker II—Peter Parker and Mary Jane’s son—not Peter’s father. Marvel confirms that Richard appears in a black suit in issue #17, but its published synopsis does not explain exactly how he becomes Venom or how the suit originates.

Which Richard Parker is associated with Venom?

This story belongs to Marvel’s 2024 Ultimate Spider-Man, a new take set in a newer Ultimate Universe. It concerns Richard Parker II, Peter and Mary Jane’s son. A secondary character catalog identifies Richard Parker II with Venom and associates him with Earth-6160; that is catalog information, not a detailed Marvel plot synopsis. Marvel’s series page describes the series as part of a new Ultimate Universe, while the Grand Comics Database character entry is the reference for the Venom association.

Peter’s father is also named Richard Parker, but he is a different character. Marvel’s Peter Parker biography identifies Richard as Peter’s father. That older family relationship should not be confused with Richard Parker II in the newer series.

What does Ultimate Spider-Man #17 confirm?

Marvel’s listing for Ultimate Spider-Man (2024) #17, published May 28, 2025, credits writer Jonathan Hickman and artist David Messina. Its promotional description sets up a Sinister Six conflict and says readers can “catch Richard Parker in the BLACK SUIT!” That confirms a black-suit appearance in the issue; it does not, by itself, explain a full Venom transformation or the suit’s origin. Marvel’s issue #17 listing is the primary source for those details.

How does Richard become Venom?

The published Marvel listings establish the black-suit appearance, while a secondary character catalog associates Richard Parker II with Venom. The sources do not establish the precise moment he becomes Venom, the suit’s mechanism or origin, or a complete sequence of issues showing the change. They therefore do not support claims that he is bitten, receives a lab-created suit, bonds with an alien symbiote, or is possessed.

Issue #18’s synopsis moves the story into a Sinister Six turf war and says Black Cat enlists Richard’s aid. It does not add an explanation of Venom’s transformation. Marvel’s issue #18 listing supports that next-story detail, not a specific origin for the suit.

Is this the same Venom origin as the older Ultimate continuity?

No such connection is established by the cited listings. The 2024 series is explicitly a new take in a newer Ultimate Universe, so explanations from an older continuity should not be applied to Richard Parker II unless the comics themselves support that link. The available issue descriptions confirm a black-suit appearance and a later role in the turf-war plot, but leave the transformation mechanics unresolved.
